Visa credit card vs. Visa debit card

Yes, you debit card will work just like your credit card. But just to be on the safe side i would use my real credit card and then pay the bill when I got home.

They are both accepted equally. The big thing for you to check on is your liabilty if your card is lost or stolen. Normally, with a credit card, you are liable for the first $50 charged if the card is lost or stolen, but with a debit card, you entire account can get cleaned out and you are liable for all the charges. You might check the terms of your cards.

If you choose to use a Visa debit card, check with your bank. A lot of banks have a daily limit of how much you can take out using your Visa/debit card. It ranges between $200-$1,000 depending on your bank.

Have a great trip! :)

Sign up for a Disney Visa card and use it like you would your Visa debt card. That's what we do. Pay for everything with it and then pay it off every month. Then you're earning disney dollars and have the protection of the credit card.

Thanks for all your responses. I called my bank. I have a $5000 spending limit and $750 cash withdraw limit on each of my two cards per day. Don't think I'll need that much! I had no idea that they had limits other than your current balance. LOL But I'm glad I checked into it just to be sure. Looks like the only thing I will have to use my credit card for will be the rental car. Thanks again! princess:

Again, to be on the safe side you might reconsider this. You may or may not be covered by fraud, also if your account was to be "drained" by fradulent use, it may take a while to get this squared and in the mean time you are out that money and the use of that card.

Use the credit card and just pay it off when you get home, just as easy and much more safe.

Disney gets their money for the hotel up front, so with your limit, you should be able to partake in their Keys to the World program, which allows you to use your room key as a credit card that can be used in 95% of the Disney locations. This has the benefit of protecting you from your card getting stolen and is quite convenient. The bad news is you pay at the end all at one time, which scares people. You can put a limit on the card though of how much credit it actually has so you don't wind up owing Disney a fortune.

Credit cards do have added protection, but I can understand the reluctance to use them in Disney versus a debit card. There is nothing more heart wrenching if you can afford it than getting a credit card statement after you are home for awhile for the balance. I know a guy who was paying off his Disney vacation for 6 months. I've never had to pay after I got home which makes the trip more enjoyable a memory.

The other solution to consider is the old traveler's checks which have served me well. You can get them free at AAA if you belong, or your bank probably has a deal for account holders. Then if they get lost or stolen, you can get the money back. In fact, I highly recommend maybe getting some for a contigency plan just in case. It has saved me once doing this. While they are a little inconvenient to fill out (and take to water parks), they are not too bad and are taken in Orlando everywhere (except maybe drink stands).
