Virtual Valentine's Day 5k and 10k - If interested please post

My intention was to do 10K but my shoes are too old and my back and knees kill me when I finish my runs. I decided that I would do 5K and had my first DNF. I got .6 from my house and turned around. I ended up doing 2 miles this morning. Went to buy shoes today and my shoe store did not have one pair of motion control shoes that fit. They are on order.

I'm done! My first 5k! My time?...49:30. My mood?...very proud cause I did it!:thumbsup2

I have my 5K time - 30:30. I ws trying to get under 30 minutes but it gives me something else to shoot for!!!
Thanks for setting this up!!!

Thanks for the inspiration here...I am glad I knew ahead of time that I would be on the TM for this. I hae yet to get started!! Off I go. I am hoping to 90 minutes. :lovestruc (this just seemed like the perfect smiley for today!)

Scott--glad to hear you have shoes on the way!! They can make all of the difference.

Tracey--nice photos...maybe I will post a few from my exercise room!! :rotfl:

Just finished! 10K in 1:30, right on. Normal route around Lake Union and it actually was sunny for most of the run! Hopefully Seattle's sunny weather is translating to better weather in Vancouver today, as well! I took along my chubbier German Shepherd, Sasha (DH had my normal running partner, Jack the German Shepherd), and I thought she was going to die near the end. Poor thing.

Today was also the unfortunate realization that I'm just about done running for the next 6 months. I'm now 4 months pregnant and I was just having the hardest time keeping my heart rate down while running.... I could walk faster than I was running! So, I did 4 minutes walk/1 minute run.... ugh. I have so much respect for everyone who normally walks the long distances.... I was just so BORED. :rotfl:

Happy Valentines Day, everyone! :lovestruc

Thanks to the Virtual Valentine 5K run, I got off my tush and did it! I was sick last week but am feeling better, but still feeling lazy!

Time 38:56, not my best by any means, but I don't know if I would've even gone if it wasn't for this! WISH I had taken my camera, I saw some deer.

Is it too late to add me to the list? I just saw the thread this morning, and I ran 5K this afternoon. My time was 36:44.
Can someone explain how to add the artwork to my signature, and/or save it as art that I can use on a t-shirt?
Thanks! Happy Valentine's Day!

To save it, Just right click on it and save it to your computer.

Go to a free service like www.photobucket.com and sign up. It's free. Upload the image to the service. After you load it into photobucket, find the image in your album and put your mouse over it, a list will show up underneath it. Look for the last line (I think its the last line) that starts with , copy that (right click and copy). Go to the signature edit area on dis and paste it in there where you want it. Preview to see if you like it, and then save.

Hope that helps!

I agree! See, then I wouldn't be bored! :lmao: I think it's just that I have my mental place I go to (with no music or anything) when I run, and when I walk it's just completely different - I haven't figured out how to do it and not be bored. But with my training for my half marathon starting in a week, I'm sure I'll get there!

I am so happy everyone got out there (or got on TM and got er done today) I am glad it helped people including myself to get up off the couch and actually do something today. I didn't get out early but took my time this morning. It was about 50 when I was out. I thought I was only going to do a 5K but when I got to almost 1 1/2 miles I started running and it felt good. I couldn't believe how good it felt (might have been that long sleeve Goofy tech shirt - made me feel like a real athlete!! LOL) so I continued on and ended up doing a 10k in 1 hour 15 min. Not bad considering this was my longest distance since the Goofy.

If anyone wants the JPG of the clip art with the year 2010 added in the corner I can send it to you. Please send me a PM and I will make sure I get it sent out to you.

I will be back later to update the list and add my pictures. Time for dinner with the family.

DH wanted to go out on Saturday so instead of doing the 10K I planned for today I ended up running the 6 mile loop around the park on Saturday. The wind in a few spots was freezing but at least the trail was clear of snow. :)

6 miles = 1:12:28. According to Garmin 12:05 avg. :woohoo:

I had planned on still doing the 10K but have spent the day sneezing and sniffling.

Congrats everyone on getting out there today!!! Happy Valentines Day!!!

Done and done!

10K in 1:08:23, a bit on the cold side, but F-U-N!! I had a rare thing in that I saw another (much faster) runner out on my course today. I love talking to other runners!!

I was scheduled to run a half marathon yesterday in Myrtle Beach. It started snowing at 7:00 Friday night, and they canceled the race around 10:00pm. So... we went out and ran anyway! I did 11.77 miles in 2:22:56, plus walked a couple of miles before the run Saturday morning, so I'm claiming a complete half marathon!

Here's a picture of what it looked like when we got up Saturday

Hello WISH'ers! This was the first I have run since the half, as my foot had been bothering me a bit, so I only did the 5K today. A bit slower than my usual times, did it in 33:11

Happy Valentines Day!

Augie

My Valentine 5K is in the bag- indoors around the Y track (lots of people whenI started- bad timing) but got a good time on the 5K in 34.22

Congratulations to everyone.:thumbsup2
What a great virtual Valentine's Day Run (walk in our case.)
DD and I left this morning (37 degrees) to do our long walk (12m) in prep for the Princess. That is why we decided to do the 10K here for Valentine's Day.
WE (I) did it! I actually walked the 12m. and felt OK . At the 10K mark we checked our time and it was 1hr.20min. (the cold caused us to have a potty break in there).
We could not do the trail we planned on but we walked Sandy Hook State Park (for those of you in NJ). The roads were clear and safe to walk on; we were worried about the ice.
It feels so good to have reached this goal.:cool1:
Thanks so much Tricia for organizing this  and making our training for the day more enjoyable.

Did a 5K today in 19:45. It was cold and snowy, so I ended up doing this at the track.

Finished My 10k in the snow again in 49 minutes. I told DW once kids are out of high school we need to get out of here.:lmao:
