The Guardians virtual queue line is inconsistent each time I've done it. Sometimes, it's a walk on to the preshow and other times I've waited 50 minutes. Most times, it's a 30-40 minute wait. I will 100% take that over waiting 2-3 hours. During the AP preview, the line went outside and had a few switchbacks that were in direct sunlight. No umbrellas or anything. It was pretty bad and would be the reality for most people if there was a standby line as the indoor queue cannot handle 3+ hours worth of people.
I do agree that the virtual queue rewards those with "fast fingers" and those that understand the tips and tricks of obtaining a group. I've been in the park trying to get a 1 pm time and overhearing people around me having absolutely zero clue how to get a boarding group.
