UPDATE: 9/15--
Yesterday, we did all of the refresh, no extra tix, etc. And didn't get on either time. Today, we are adding an additional phone. Lol we start at DCA so we are going to try for WebSlingers first. We were walking in at noon to Oga's Cantina and I stopped just short of the alcove entry to finish my last refresh. Got the "join group" , tapped it and then saw the dreaded "sorry. No more boarding passes..." message. 😒 I am hoping it was a fluke due to Yesterday being an OBB day. I also wasn't able to mobile order breakfast at our hotel due to all of the times being taken so it could be just my inability to work electronics. Lol 🤞Wish me luck!!!

Okay. I have done the VQ for RotR at DW and also for rides when DL had the fast passes you could purchase pre-pandemic, but I am TOTALLY terrified of it now that I am heading to DL next week and everything has changed. I know RotR and the new WebSlingers but what are the tips for getting on those? Are they still sticking to the park hopping after 1 pm rule? Do I have to be in the park to book the VQ or if I am staying at the GCH will I be able to book from my room that morning as long as I have the park reservation that day? The last time I booked was last Sept at DW and you had to really be in a certain spot at HS to get the internet to work to be able to book so I am now sweating this whole virtual queue biz. :scared:I hate arriving and not being prepared for the onslaught of "sorry. you missed your chance" even though everyone is saying next week will be a slow week. I was able to finally book all of my dining res using that FREE service mouse dining website and that was a huge stress reliever for me. We arrive Monday so any tips for what I need to do so I can be sure I get on a few rides and don't end up day drinking through the parks would be appreciated. :scared1:

I've written a write up on this in my Disneyland Planning and Information thread linked below...

Although, here's the summary....

How to get Virtual Que Boarding Groups for Rise of the Resistance and Web Slingers

There are hundreds of posts and a dozen different threads that talk about the Boarding Group Process. I'm going to simplify it as much as I can and will break it down to four sections.....The Process, The Prep Work, How To Do It and Tips.

The Process

7:00am Rise of the Resistance - Who can try to get a Boarding Group
* 1 park per day ticket and valid Disneyland Reservation as the starting park
* Park Hopper ticket and valid Disneyland Reservation as the starting park

7:00am Web Slingers - Who can try to get a Boarding Group
* 1 park per day ticket and valid Disney California Adventure Reservation as the starting park
* Park Hopper ticket and valid Disney California Adventure Reservation as the starting park

12:00pm Rise of the Resistance - Who can try to get a Boarding Group
* 1 park per day ticket, valid Disneyland Reservation as the starting park, checked into the park (you do not need to stay in the park, just scanned in before noon) and did not get a 7:00am Boarding Group
* Park Hopper ticket, checked into the park (you do not need to stay in the park, just scanned before noon) and did not get a 7:00am Boarding Group
*Park Hopper ticket, already received 7:00am Boarding Group to Web Slingers and if your Boarding Group was called before noon and scanned in, you can attempt to get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group at noon.

12:00pm Web Slingers - Who can try to get a Boarding Group
* 1 park per day ticket, valid Disney California Adventure Reservation as the starting park, checked into the park (you do not need to stay in the park, just scanned in before noon) and did not get a 7:00am Boarding Group
* Park Hopper ticket, checked into the park (you do not need to stay in the park, just scanned before noon) and did not get a 7:00am Boarding Group
*Park Hopper ticket, already received 7:00am Boarding Group to Rise of the Resistance and if your Boarding Group was called before noon and scanned in, you can attempt to get a Web Slingers Boarding Group at noon.

The Prep Work

* Download Atomic Clock app from either Google Play Store or Apple Apps Store. You can also navigate to https://www.time.gov as the key is getting to see the current time and seconds counting.
* Link all the tickets and Reservations for everyone in your group to your Disneyland app. Then make sure the Disneyland app is downloaded on all their phones with your account so everyone can try to get a Boarding Group. You just need one person in your group to be successful for the entire group to get Boarding Groups.
* Practice at home a few times to get down the process. Since you won't have a valid Park Reservation for that day, none of the members of your group will have their names checked, they will all be unchecked. On the day of your visit, if you have a valid park ticket and reservation, all the names in your group will be automatically checked.
* First thing in the morning when you are going to make the attempt, test the speeds on your smartphone using both your WiFi and your Cellular carrier. You can download apps but I prefer using this link https://www.speedtest.net and just click on the "GO" button. It will let you know your Download and Upload speeds. Check to see which option gives you better speeds, WiFi or Cellular.
* Close down all the other apps on your device. You don't want your smartphone using system resources on any other apps outside of the Disneyland app when attempting to get Boarding Groups. Every second counts!
* If you have multiple devices (laptop, iPad or an extra smartphone) open up the World Clock, Atomic Clock or https://www.time.gov to show you the seconds counting. If you only have one device, use the World Clock and once it gets to 6:59:00am (or 11:59:00am for the noon release), switch to the Disneyland app to keep refreshing for the next minute.
* Make sure you have the most UPDATED version of the Disneyland app. Check your Google Play app or iPhone App Store app, for the latest updates. As the Disneyland app does get occasionally updated from time to time.

How To Do It

* Open the Disneyland App, go to Virtual Queues and click Join Boarding Group. You will see two tabs at the top, click on either Disneyland Park (for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance) or Disney California Adventure Park (for WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure).
* Click on the tab of the Park and Ride you want to attempt a Boarding Group for, as you will want to pull down and refresh the screen once it gets to 6:59:59am (or 11:59:59am for the noon release).
* Keep refreshing until you see a blue "Join" button and quickly click on it.
* All the names linked to your account that have valid tickets/park reservations should automatically be selected and click the blue "Join" button one more time.
* After that, with a bit of Disney luck, hopefully you'll get a confirmation screen with a Boarding Group assigned and an Estimated Wait time.

Some people, like me, are more visual. So here's a quick 1 minute Boarding Group Tutorial video on this process....

Tips

* If you have multiple people linked to your Disneyland app account, you just need one person to be successful for everyone to get a Boarding Group. If you want more attempts at getting a certain time, have everyone in you group attempt to get it at the same time, using the one Disneyland app account that has all the tickets and reservations setup.
* With multiple people, you can try doing a tiered approach to refreshing the screen. Have one person refresh at 6:59:58am, another at 6:59:59am and another at 7:00:00am. Or you can just have everyone refresh at 6:59:59am, both methods have had success with groups.
* FYI, some people have had issues with attempting to get Boarding Groups at 7:00am when they have had multiple theme park tickets on their Disneyland app. Some of these people have 3 day park tickets, 4 day park tickets and\or single day park tickets loaded on their Disneyland app. Since you don't need to be checked into a theme park for the 7am board group attempt, the app at times had issues with selecting which ticket to use for the reservation of that day. To fix, these people just removed the extra linked tickets from their Disneyland app or created a new account with just one linked tickets and these options resolved their issues.

Matrixleos, Thank you! I appreciate all of your detailed work and suggestions. This doesn't look like it will be easy. Bummer! I do appreciate your link and app suggestions. I didn't know about that and the last time, I sat and hit "refresh refresh refresh" on the app so that I could stay up to date on the time because that was what my DIS travel agent told me to do. LOL!

I had seen a few entries from the beginning and was hoping it had gotten a little easier to do since summer was over. :( The fact that Disney has us all glued to our phones during what used to be a vacation just slays me! I know. I know. It is supposed to make it easier for us and help us with lines, but man...when I am having to download a totally separate app (Atomic Clock), they know they are controlling us and our experience. I find that I miss a lot of the park theming now with my face buried in my phone and struggling to work the app. DH doesn't care about the app OR the theming so I am really the only one who misses out. LOL!

Thank you again, Matrixleos!

While the above, detailed information is great for those who are up for all of that, I think it doesn't have to be that complicated, particularly for multi-day trips where people have a lot of chances to score BGs. 😊 I've never used an outside clock, checked my internet speed, or any of that, personally, and I've always gotten a good boarding group. (I'm not saying people shouldn't do all of that if they want to! Especially for short, high-stakes trips. I'm just saying that if it sounds overwhelming, you can scale back.)

How I book Boarding Groups:
1. I open the app about 6:58.
2. I click on the "Join Virtual Queue" button.
3. I wait until my iPhone time flips to 7:00. Immediately, I either refresh by pulling down the screen or click on the other park (I've done both ways) - so, if I want ROTR, I'm either on the DL page and pull-down refresh right at 7, or I sit on the CA page and then click the DL icon right at 7. Lately I usually hang out on the opposite park and click the park I want right at 7.
4. I hit the join button, confirm the party, and join. We usually get something in the Group 30-40 range.* I think one time we got something in the 60s.

As noted, you can get the 7:00 BG from anywhere as long as you have a valid park reservation for the day, and you can only get it for the ride in your starting park. For the 12:00 drop, you have to have entered a park to be eligible for a BG, and you can't get one if you still have an active BG from 7am. You can't get the same ride twice in one day.

Also, on low-crowd days, the noon drop can last for hours (ROTR still had BGs available at 7pm last Wednesday), so that might be the case for you if you're there mid-week next week, which should be lighter crowds.

* (I actually got thrown off yesterday because they changed the screen where you confirm your party, so it didn't look like I expected and I stopped to read it - whoops. By the time I processed what I was doing, I ended up with group 100 for Webslingers. We got called around 1:00, so that stopped us from being able to get ROTR on the same day. But if I hadn't have gotten hung up there, I'm sure it would have been a much earlier group like normal.)

I hope you get all the boarding groups your heart desires on your trip next week! Have fun!

Now I’m worried that we have a set of one day tickets with reservations on 9/11 and a set of hoppers with reservations for November linked in the app…. Hopefully we won’t have issues trying at 7:00….

Most people who had these issues with the app this summer, bought two different sets of tickets from a 3rd party and then made park reservations.

Issue with this was the app, didn't know what set of tickets to use for your reservation for that day and you had to manually check the names, which costs you 2-3 seconds. In the summer, that was the difference in get a Boarding Group or not. Now a days, seems the boarding groups are open for several minutes to hours, so shouldn't be as much of an issue unless capacity increases.

If you bought the two sets of tickets through Disney and we're prompted to make a reservation, then you won't have this issue. As your reservations are tied to your tickets.

Just a heads up. We are here now and tried at noon, did all of the above tips and received a group 203. We just got a notice now that the ride has reached capacity and can’t get to our group number. The ride was broke down off and on a lot today. (The park has been pretty busy btw) So just so you know, you can do “everything right” but it still might not be in the cards even when getting a boarding group.

I’m sorry that you missed riding today! While ROTR has been more reliable post-closure, it definitely still has rough days. The 7am drop definitely gives you a better chance to ride than the noon drop.

Our tickets and reservations for 9/11 were purchased through Disney and other set through a 3rd party. Oh well it’ll be what it’ll be!

I anyone doesn't know, last week, the screens to get your boarding group have changed. In the past, you would refresh on the page for the ride and after clicking "join virtual queue" at 7AM on the attraction page, you would have to select your party. Now, you confirm your party before 7AM and refresh on the next page. You can still pull down on the page to refresh but there is now a dedicated refresh button.

We got on WebSlingers at 7 and then it told us to come back at 11. All of a sudden at 10, it says come now, so we got there at 10:10 and stood in line for an hour waiting.😬 then when noon popped up, we were on the stupid ride and missed RotR😑 and almost our lunch res for 11 at Carthay Alfresco!! We had res for 11:10 and walked up at 11:25 & they let us in because we were one of the few guests who didn't mind outside seating. I guess we will miss out this trip. Tomorrow we start at DCA so we prob won't get on. Bummer! At least we got one though.
Side bar: parks are PACKED today!!😶 we came back to the room at 4 and will keep checking times but it looks like quick service in bed for us tonight. Bummer. It's my bday!

due to Yesterday being an OBB day

What does OBB mean in relation to Disneyland? I only know it as Onboard Booking on the cruise line, but I have seen it several times related to DL. Going in Feb and trying to learn it - DL feels like a foreign language!!
