Not sure if this has been covered recently, but I was speaking to Virgin Holidays' press office today and they mentioned that their Downtown Disney flight check-in is definitely re-opening in the near future. I have no more detail than that at the moment, but will pass it on as soon as I get it! This is quite a (welcome) surprise to me, and I'm sure Virgin clients will be VERY pleased to hear it!

:Pinkbounc OH YES

Simon - hope this will be in time for our October trip.

I'm so happy in the hope that it is I could kiss you :p

That's great news Simon - thanks for the info. :)

Blimey Annie Flower, control yourself woman - was there something in your coffee this morning!!

That will be welcome news for many:p Me included!

Great news. For us this was the key difference between Virgin and BA (well, that plus Twilight check-in). The DD checkin allowed a full day's theme parking on our final day. A visit to Typhoon Lagoon in the morning and then Animal Kingdom in the afternoon worked well with an early DD checkin.

Well done Virgin!

Regards

Rob

In a similar thread on another board Virgin have emailed confirming DD checkin re-opens 1st Oct. !!!!!!!!!

Very good news.

I had read that other airlines had recently reopened their off-airport check ins in Orlando area and was hoping Virgin would follow.

Can those of you who have used this in the past give us some idea of where the check in is and what time (of day) it is likely to be open from. Thanks.

Doed/did DD checkin apply to all Virgin flights or just Virgin Holidays?

We're on a scheduled Virgin flight with Thomas Cook Signature. If it's up and running by 30 October, will we be able to use it? I do hope so.:) :)

I would be very interested to hear more too:)

Sounds great.

We are like edie in that we are flying with virgin next year but booked through an agent and its for flights only. Do we still get to do DD checkin??

Might make the last day more bearable, knowing we've got more park time and are all checked in!

:D

Hi,
Last time we used the Downtown check-in it opened at 8:30 am and was available for use by anybody flying with Virgin Atlantic so I assume the same will apply. All the travellers in party had to be present with passports and any hand luggage.

Eve, you would need to get the Disney bus to DD West Side, with all your luggage, then return to the resort for the official transfer later in the day (unless you just want to go straight to the airport for the normal check-in). The Virgin check-in operated previously from 8.30am-1pm in the parking area immediately outside Cirque du Soleil, and it is available to ANY ticketed Virgin Atlantic passenger who wants to check in there (and save a lot of time!). I hope to have the full story of it's re-start next Monday.

Simon.

Thats great news no carting cases round on last (Half) day may be able to do something worthwhile rather than clock watch!

Thats excellent news when i went back in 98 i used DD check in which was much better than last year then where i had to Q in Orlando Airport. I am in PE this time so the wait is next to nothing but this means i can go to a park on the last day :D

I just finished my holiday plan now i gotta decide where to go on the last day :)
