Virginia Tech virtually locked down

First day of classes and an inmate is loose and he would blend into the campus community. He has killed 2 law inforcement officers and injured another. All the Tech students are told to stay in the dorm rooms with the doors locked. Workers are being evacuated one campus side at a time. Poor kids.....first time away from home for many. Armed officers had to burst into one of the buildings and tell the students to get out and get to their dowm rooms. Scary world out thee....even in rural Virginia, aparantly.

Scary!! My IL's, cousin and friend were going up to Mountain Lake today. (Where Dirty Dancing was filmed) That is about 20 miles past Blacksburg. I called this morning and they hadn't heard about it. I told them not to stop in Blacksburg and not to plan on going on campus. I work about 30 minutes from Tech and still have an uneasy feeling. I really don't think a fugitive would come towards a heavy populated area when he could go the other way and go into a largely wooded area very quickly. Or either go about 15 minutes another way and be on the Radford University campus. He could really blend in w/ the students, he is only 24. It still makes me nervous.

When I first saw his picture I said Wow, he could blend into a school, THEN the story continued to say they were focusing around VA Tech for just that reason!

It is now being reported that he has been captured!

Very few details yet, news is just coming in.

Yes, captured on the Tech campus, but it doesn't sound as though there were any injuries during the arrest. Thank heavens he is caught!

I hope that they have captured him. DH went to VT. That is too scary.

I live there, and the whole city has been going nuts! Thankfully, he was caught, just about 2 hours or so. All the roads were closed, businesses, schools, everything.

WOW that is scarry I am just glad it seems to be over and noone got hurt (none of the students anyway) big thumbs up to the police for controlling this. My heart goes out to the officers killed and hurt during this escapade.
