Virginia Beach/Williamsburg area??

Pedler

A "short wait" for us is about 20 minutes. My kids are 6, 3 and 1 so we haven't done the "dark" rides. My 6 yo loves the Flying Machine and the Katapult but won't do anything inside. He has ridden the Big Bad Wolf and says he'll do it "once a year".

We haven't done Water Country. Have heard good things though.

Enjoy your trip! If you have any other questions, just let us know.

HamTown,

Thanks for the reply. That is just what I needed to know. We need to prep our sons for the wait time. Last year at this time we were at WDW and with the low crowds and using TourGuideMike we didn't wait more than 5 minutes for any ride excep RnR (and that was with Fastpass). We just need to prep them that it will be a bit more crowded than that.

Enjoy your trip! If you have any other questions, just let us know.

Thanks. We are looking forward to going to the Williamsburg area quite a bit. There seems to be a lot to do there. Have you been to the Revolutionary City program they have at Colonial Williamsburg? I was wondering how it is for kids?

OK... now you have my attention. Crabcakes! How is the pricing at the Yorktown Pub and is it OK for my heathen children that don't particularly like seafood. (My way of asking do they have a kids menu)

The Yorktown Pub is one of DBF and I's fav restaurants (we even have our initials carved into the wall ;) ).

It has mostly pub food (ie fried food) like fried seafood, fries, jalepeno poppers, mozarella sticks, GREAT burgers and stuff like that. They also have a kid's menu. The crabcake sandwich is good, and DBF likes the softshell crab sandwich (when in season). The prices are good- I'd say average. For the two of us to have drinks (usually beer & a mixed drink) and burgers it's about $25 incl tip I think.

Then for dessert you can walk over to the new Ben & Jerry's in the new section by the water! :)

If you go to the outlets in Williamsburg (I used to work there  ) make sure you go to Guest services- you can get a big coupon book that's pretty helpful. They used to give it out to anyone, but if I'm not mistaken, you have to have a AAA membership to get it now. It's between Harry and David and Waterford.

Make sure to go to the pottery too! I actually think I may take a ride up there one of these days... I miss the burg!! (I went to college/grad school there :teeth: ).

How are the other dark rides like Escape from Pompeii, Corkscrew Hill and Pirates? last year DS7 wouldn't go on anything remotely scarry at WDW. He is a bit more adventuresome this year. Pirates seemed to be a funny 4D movie so that looked OK. I still don't quite know what Corkscrew Hill is and we aren't sure about Escape from Pompeii. I think he will be OK with the drop but I don't know about the inside part of the ride. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Escape from Pompeii is esentially Splash Mountain without the Disney touch. It's basically up the ramp, through a few rooms of Roman ruins with flame effects, and then the drop. If the drop doesn't scare them, you don't have to worry about this one.

Corkscrew hill is a motion simulator ride. Instead of being a small room, though, like Star Tours, the whole theater moves. There are some scary parts in the plot, including a witch who trys to throw you into a boiling pot of brew.

For the mostpart, Pirates is comical. However, there are a few parts that might be startling.
