Hiya

Well you may know my wekend hasnt been great

But todays improved it!!

We did decide to use the money from rhodes to upgrade, but we ahve upgraded to UPPER CLASS both ways!!! I am so excited!!!

Anybody been upper class on virgin

can wait and wanted to share :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

WOW im so jealous! I would LOVE to fly upper class.

Can i ask you though, how much was the upgrade, PM if you would rather? Im just considering doing it for our wedding in December.

Wow, we have flew with virgin several times, not upper class though as we've always invested in say Discovery Cove or other interactions or special occasions but we have seen and visted the upperclass section and its top class, never seen a better class on any other plane and we have travelled with quite a few, very very lucky!!! =] =]

Yes, we've flown Virgin UC a few times. I'm baffled, though. Didn't you cancel your Virgin PE flights because your partner thought they were too expensive, and rebook with TCD? :confused3

Lucky, lucky you. I'm too tight to pay for PE at £195 each way for 4. Apart from the cost of our hols DH has splashed out on a new digital camera, cards, card reader, something to download photos onto and then there's my new clothes, some Crocs the list is endless. Good luck to you anyway.

Well done, I am flying UC with Virgin both ways in August looking forward to thoose Beds!!!!!!!! Cannot drink though driving both ends both ways.

Enjoy, added peak your bags come off first at Orlando, but not on the return leg, last year we saw Jonathan Ross come off UC and he got all of his families bags first at Gatwick, then hours before everyones elses.

Yeah, unfortunately the baggage handlers at Gatwick couldn't give a monkey's. Better if you're flying BA - they have their own dedicated terminal and baggage handlers. Maybe you could consider another switch, Anna.

Excellent news, Anna! You will have wonderful time in Upper. Make sure you get to the airport early to enjoy the clubhouse - and to avoid disappointment, make sure you pre-book some treatments in advance (only if you'd like them of course).

its true we did cancel virgin to start with lol just to go right back lol

the clubhouse is at manchester a serviceair one, so i dont think they do treatments do they?

Sorry - I didn't realise you were flying from Manchester. Virgin only have clubhouses in the UK at Gatwick & Heathrow, so there won't be treatments available. The servisair lounges are nice, but there aren't any treatment options and the food/drink is limited.

You can call Upper Class on 0870 1909090 to make your seat reservations, or you can do it online on the VA website under "manage my flight". The in-flight beauty treatments are only available on flights going in and out of Heathrow as far as I am aware (unless they've recenty changed it) - but the Upper Class reservations number will be able to confirm that.

thanx i will check that out

londons just too far away for us, plus we will both be working the day before

Theres a child age limit on the UC CLubhouse isnt there?
It's not actually an "upper class" clubhouse - as I believe Virgin Holiday customers can purchase entry even if they aren't flying upper. But, yes, there is an minimum age restriction of 12 years (supposedly). We have been in with our three children before who were then about 2, 5 and 6 - generally it depends how busy it is. They are getting quite strict now though and lately we've only used it when it's just been DH and I travelling, and that tends to be the Heathrow clubhouse rather than Gatwick.

hiya

would you suggest going from london? whats in the lcub house

and would virgin be able to arrange, transfers etc, overnight hotels?

On a good day I can make london in three and a half hours (none rush hour)

It seems a bit of a hassle to go all the way to London Anna when you are so close to Manchester airport and VA fly from there daily :confused3

I'm sure the Upper Class Lounge at LGW is lovely, but is it worth it to add that extra travel time, hassle and inconvenience on?

Well obviously you would benefit from the Gatwick clubhouse, but is it worth the extra hassle? If you were flying from Heathrow then I would definitely recommend making the slightly longer journey, because the new Heathrow clubhouse is truly out-of-this-world. As Orlando flights go from Gatwick, whilst the clubhouse in nice, I'm not sure I would make an extra-special trip just for it. One thing you should check though (and I'm not sure about this as we've never flown from MAN) is that the planes they use for that route do indeed have the new suites installed.

The Gatwick Clubhouse has a salon, complementary food & drink and nice comfy surroundings. Don't forget that you can also use the Delta lounge at Orlando International before flying home.

If you booked one of the qualifying rate upper class tickets (aka the more expensive ones!), then yes, you can get a free transfer to and from the airport. They do have a "maximum distance" but (if I remember rightly) it's pretty far North, so they should be able to take you down to Gatwick from your home for free - you would be able to use the drive-through check-in as well, and check-in from the comfort of the car. You'd get the same in Orlando. They would be able to book an overnight airport hotel, but obviously that will be at an additional cost.

Agreed - if you are considerably closer to Manchester, then would suggest that you stick with that - am sure that the serviceair lounge is just fine... The Gatwick Clubhouse is very nice, but not worth the extra travel time, cost (of petrol/transfers and overnight hotel) and inconvenience if you live near Manchester. I also wonder whether the cost of upgrading varies between Manchester and Gatwick...

Upper Class is great, but they do spoil you!

Boo

Definitely not! It's a nice enough place to while away the time when you have to be at the airport, but making a 3 1/2 hour trip just to experience it is entirely missing the point.
