Virgin Upper Class!!!??? New Qs Post 37

Some car-hire companies offer a fast lane service where I *think* you get front of line access, when I booked my car-hire I was sent a membership form for one with alamo :)

Hertz do the same - I am a Hertz Gold Card member (means you don't have to queue and - more often than not - you just read your name off the board, locate your car and then drive off...).

However that is nothing to do with flying Virgin Upper Class - you need to just join your rental car company's programme...

Hiya

I have some new Qs now, Ive let chris in that we are going uc lol, hes dead excited.

Can UC reservations book hotel stays at the airport, also can they arrange transfers from my house. An special things they can book.

Also does the uc provide any quicker check in for car hire in the international at orlando?

Thanx for any help

Anna
Anna - check which type of Upper Class ticket you have. If it's one of the full fare ones (not discounted) then transfers to and from the airport are included - as is the use of the drive-through check-in.

my understanding is that if you book with Virgin Holidays than you don't get the transfers as you are booked into Z, not sure if this is 100% correct though?

She has upgraded through Virgin Holidays for about £549 per sector per person... upgrades are booked into "Z class", but only full fare "J class" get limos ("J class" tickets are about £3k/£4k+ per person...)

Yes, completely correct.

£560 one way £660 the other

Ok, £11 out one way, £111 out the other - but not far off... although earlier on this thread you did post this:

£560 each, each way so £2240.00 but then I did get the ten percent off for being a frequent virgin (flying club member as well)

So was only £22 out (return) per person on what you said earlier ;)

Doesn't make any difference to the outcome - the tickets will still be booked under Z class and not J class.... :(

why are you pulling what I say apart?

and I have changed to fly from gatwick hence the extra. I dont really mind being j or z, or x or y. I am very happy we can go uc both ways, paying for the meet and greet service at gatwick doesnt faze me and I have just confirmed the hilton to stay at.

I like to know what to expect from a service,

Thanks for letting me know. We never book with VH anymore and I didn't know what category ticket she would be getting.

PS - DH just told me that it isn't just J tickets which are eligible, but D tickets as well.

Wasn't pulling what you said apart, was just quoting to help you understand why I said what I said... don't worry about it...

You would mind flying y instead of j or z, but that is a different matter ;). Was just trying to explain why things are the way they are, rather than just say "no, you don't get limo service". Sorry if the fare class explaination confused you (as opposed to helping you).

The Hilton is nice and very convient for check-in. Meet and Greet is also a good way to do things.

There are 4 types of UC tickets - J, D, Z, G

J and D tickets get the free limo transfers at either end and drive through check-in. J is full fare, fully flexible; D is advance purchase with some restrictions on flexibility.

Z tickets do not get limos and are fully restricted

G tickets (paid for in miles) can add limos for 10,000 each but may not use drive through check-in.

Anna, when are you going? We are also doing Upper Class for the first time for our honeymoon at the end of October. PE was fabulous so upper must be amazing. I'm just looking forward to having a bed on the plane. It'll be worth it for me just to be able to sleep, so I'm not zonked at work for a week afterwards.

Did you switch to Heathrow or Gatwick? I've stayed at the Hilton at Heathrow, and it was very good. We are flying from MAN, but I wish we'd booked to fly from Newcastle to London, and used the clubhouse, as we're a couple of hours drive to Manchester from here.

Was the price you got each, or for the two of you? We paid 3k for two tickets.

It is true, you don't get a limo with a Z fare, but, as a J is a few grand extra, we thought it would be much cheaper to get our own limo, if we decide to have one.

we arnt going neext year anymore, we are getting a house instead

3k for two tickets is about right for a Z fare: it's a very descent deal.

No limo with a Z fare. Get your own limo/taxi/transfer/hire car etc... works out MUCH cheaper :)

Did Upper class both there and back came back on Saturday, VIRIGN looked after us all the way, so nice, the staff make you feel special and were very attentive, the flight manager was with us a lot of the way giving us updates, Yes I was out promptly at Orlando, Some PE customers went out first Economy was generally stopped until UC out, we were a bit back at Imigration but our bags were all up first, and I was at my Car and driving out of Dollar in 35 mins from touch down.

MCO had changed the security for us, coming from the UK, with our extra security checks, they made a special gangway for UK arrivials on Virgin and we went direct to the shuttle and second luggage claim without any USA security check this time.

UC bed good for a plane and staff very helpful on theese, my outbound flight became a night flight because of delays and we used them both ways.

Glad you had a good experience in UC, Andrew. I'm sure you will agree - it's hard to travel any other way now! :goodvibes
