Hi everyone,
Doing the twighlight check in in May. Just wondered what the policy is on hand luggage. Will be staying near gatwick and would like to check in main luggage the night before, leaving us to take hand luggage on the day. This will include a laptop, digi video camera and personal cd players.

Can anyone let me know what Virgins policy is on this and how the check in works after booking in the bulk of the luggage the night before.

regards

I'm pretty sure you have to have your hand luggage there with when you check in.

Twilight check in is pretty much tha same as normal checkin. You check your luggage in, get you boarding passes and wave good buy to your cases :)

Next day you just tuen up at the airport, go through security to the departure lounge as normal.

I can confirm that you do need ALL your luggage so they can "check" it in (see that it's not too big etc) and they tag it for you.

You certainly do need to have all luggage with for it to be checked, they will however allowyou to check in another bag the following morning, we did this last year and plan to do so again this year, you need to tell them that this is what you would like to do, and the following morning just take the suitcase/bag to check in again - you do not all need to be there the next day just one, so I left DH and the kids watching cartoons in the hotel room (we stayed at the Hilton) and then went and got breakfast from Mc'd's after checking in the small suitcase with our overnight things in!

Oooooooo we did the Virgin Twighlite check in for the first time on Christmas Eve and didn't take any of our hand luggage with us. We were not asked about it either, just given our boarding cards and told to present ourselves at security the following morning. We arrived went through security, rang our family to wish them Merry Christmas, walked to the gate and within 5 mins they were calling to board, it was fantastic. The down town Disney checkin was wonderful, although we were not aware of the $20 fee to check in there, but no matter. When we arrrived we were told the flight was delayed and did not need to get to the airport until 6pm, worth every penny in my opinion. Would love to have gone with Virgin this coming Christmas from that point of view, but could not justify the £200.00 per person price increase in comparison to BA for the same direct flights and dates!

Have a wonderful time.

We did Twilight Check-in last month and forgot to take our hand luggage with us. They asked us if we had it with us but weren't too concerned when we said we'd left it in the car. The next morning, we just showed up and walked straight through to the duty free bit. Incidentally we were told that there is only 1 piece of hand luggage per person in the party and handbags don't count. While we were waiting for our flight to board, Virgin people were talking to people who were taking on cases as hand luggage and making them decant their stuff into bags to be put in the hold. Apparently your hand luggage shouldn't weigh more than 6 kilos.

You dont need to have your hand luggage with you, and weve never been asked for it. I cant see the logic, when uyou only take it away with you again??, whats stopping you putting loads more stuff in your bag after its been checked LOL??!!!.

Weve never had any problems, and have never been stopped for our hand luggage, weve never had i ttagged or anything, and have had no problems.

We're using twighlight check in as well - do you still need to get there early the morning of the flight?

I'm so paranoid about getting held up on M25 we'll probably still be there early - rather that than miss it. :rolleyes1

we are doing twighlight check in in a fortnight(14th feb yippee :Pinkbounc not long now.). we arrive from edinburgh at about 4.30ish so once we have been and collected our luggage we will be off to check in. as far as i was aware as long as we are there two hours before the flight the next day you dont have to be that early. you have you boarding cards and stuff so go straight to the gate. but we were advised that if we were checking anything in in the morning overnight stuff etc we would need to arrive early again.

hey

Tracy,

We travelled with Virgin holidays and got a voucher for this. I think if you don't book with Virgin Hols you don't get the voucher and have to pay $5 per person. It is worth every penny though even if you have to pay it!

We did twighlight check in two years ago and found it really good.We plan to do it for our next trip in May. I was just wondering where the check in is in downtown disney I have heard it mentioned a few times but have never seen it.

We did the twilight check in at Downtown Disney for the first time in December - worth the $5 per person definitely! It's behind/to the side of Cirque du Soleil La Nouba in the West Side area - we had no idea where it was but we spotted a Virgin rep so we were lucky.

Thanks for that we will deffinitely try it for our next trip in May.We are staying in Wyndham Palace which is only across the road so it should be quite handy.
