Virgin Seats - which seat do you choose

Unlike many people on this forum we have always been given the seats we reserve through Virgin so for our trip this year we have again reserved early.

I have gone for seats as far forward as possible, we got row 33, but I'm not sure why I try and get seats far forward.

I was speaking to someone who tries to get seats at the back because she thinks it is quieter.

What do others do and why?

When we flew economy we always tried to get either exit row seats "on the day" or at the back where there are only two seats at each side. We ALWAYS got our request except once on a return flight. With Singapore and Thai airlines, however, we got what we were given!

We like the exit rows obviously for the extra legroom, but the rows of two are nice because you don't have anyone else with you, plus there is quite a bit of space either side. The downside is you are last off the aircraft.

We have been on two trips to Florida with Virgin and both times we got the seats we requested; bth outward and inbound

First trip we went for the rows 61 & 62, seats HK. These are at the back of the plane where the body narrows only allowing 2 seats in the row next to the windows. This was great as you get a nice bit of extra space between the seat and the window.

Second trip we went for row 62, seats DEFG. We chose the 4 seats in the middle so we were all in a line and so could talk easier etc.

I've checked out the Vflyer website, and due to the their remarks I actually kept the seats we were assigned on booking - 37 E to H. Now they were quite complimentary about these ones on the Manchester plane (which we're going on), but not at all on the London flights - so it will be interesting to see!!

Whatever, I'll just try to grin and bear it - and think of Disney!!

We go for 6 A & K and 7A so that our little one is out the way at the front

Sadly I'll not be booking those nice seats at the front

I've decided to change to the back of the plane for our return journey and am following Goofyish with row 61 and 62 seats HK.

On the outward journey I've stuck with 4 in a row near the front so we can chat and also try and get off the plane through quickly to avoid queues at immigration.

On the return journey I'm hoping the extra room in the seats allows some sleep. I reckon there's no rush to get off the plane at Manchester as we'll be waiting for the bags anyway.

V-flyer doesn't say much for row 61/62 on the Manchester flight but has them as good seats on the Gatwick flight

when do you go?
the reason I ask is that the aircraft Virgin use are going to be changed during this year to two LGW 747-400's with Suites.
This changes the seating in both PE and Economy.
If the change is before you go, its worth on the way out trying to get rows 21 or 22 on the way out, these are allotted at check in.

We leave on 30th June.

The change of plane would explain why when I book the seats through the virgin web-site it has a different seat configuration from v-flyer. V-flyer has row 61 as sitting 3 while the 400 series from Gatwick has row 61 as sitting 2.

Do you know if rows 21 and 22 are available for internet check-in?

I don't know, as I always check in on the day (Pleasure of flying UC, no queues)
You could always ask on the V-Flyer forum there are some Virgin staff who post there.

I've booked seats right next to the exit, as soon as the seatbelts sign goes off I'm primed to leap out of my seat and be on my way. There's nothing more frustrating that getting out of your seat and wanting to move down the aisle to get off the plane and having your route blocked by someone taking an age to get their stuff out of the overhead cabins! There's a Florida holiday to get underway after all!

The two LGW 747-400 changes was planned for May, I did take this up personally with Virgin and that is when this is expected.
