Virgin refunds from April

We were due to go April 19th and since the initial email from Virgin telling us it was cancelled (no sh*t Sherlock-Trump won't let us in) we have heard absolutely nothing We initially asked for a quote to go to West Coast in autumn then changed our mind when it became obvious this was a non-starter and asked for a refund. We have still heard nothing and I'm getting a bit twitchy (especially as I have now booked a holiday to Canada for next year using the Virgin refund...) So, anyone due to go around Easter received their money back from Tricky Dicky yet?

Just emailed my MP and Grant Shapps, the transport secretary on this matter. Not going to hold my breath, but, who knows, whats the worst that can happen? I'm tempted to contact VA as much as I need to asking if they can reverse my, as yet unpaid, refund into an open ticket as I will use it for my planned trip to both Disney parks next year, I only requested a refund a few weeks ago and I'm already fed up.

Yes me! We were due to fly VA 10th April, I have had a whatsapp message chat with VA and requested a refund, they said it would take 90 days but then last week they sent a generic bulk email to everyone who had requested a refund saying it could be up to another 60 days!

I imagine the delay is a cash flow issue. They haven't got any.
So they may be kicking the refund can down the road until they can sell tickets for beyond July/August which would help pay for refunds.
(Just my hypothesis.)

So I was due to fly April 20th and have not had a refund.. Been told it's 90 working days from the day we were due to fly so with the bank hols that puts me mid August.

Also, check your cancellation invoice on your booking and make sure they haven't flagged it as a credit note. I have kept a log of every contact I have had with Virgin just in case.

Also VA cancelled my flight to NY in March, was originally quoted 5 working days.. still yet to have a refund and hard to get hold of anyone.

All details have been sent to MP, he says they have had loads of these issues about Virgin and to wait the 90 days.

sucks but will just keep fingers crossed that now Virgin can fly again they will have cash flow again

I'll get mine at Christmas then, only 6 months to wait.

Have you requested a refund though? You need to tell them thats what you want as opposed to leaving it with a credit on, just SMS them rather than call

So just for info I was told last month refunds are taking around 120 days to be processed so I think they have a backlog

Although I am not having an issue with VA, I thought my experience with Icelandair may help. I was supposed to leave on April 13 to go to Iceland. After the 10 weeks that I was told it would take to receive my refund, I still received nothing. On their Facebook page, everyone was complaining about not receiving refunds--even from March--except through purchasers' credit card companies.

I called my Jetblue Mastercard last Thursday. They said that all I needed was evidence that I attempted to contact the airlines, evidence that the flight was cancelled, and the email that indicated I had a pending refund (which she said I would have been owed if they cancelled the flight anyway). I was told that 60 days is all they require you to wait. I had the credit on my credit card in about 24 hours. My credit card company said that they would deal with the airline's bank for me. If they need the evidence, they would contact me.

I hope this helps someone.

That's what we've been told too.

Requested refund 14th April, still waiting. Called to make sure it was still in progress, they confirmed it was, and that earlier requests should be around 90 -100 days. So hopefully be end of July!

Just wanted to let people know my parents have just received their refund from Virgin! They were due to go on the 24th March for two weeks. Thought it might be reassuring to know some refunds are being made.
