virgin price difference!!!!

Hi all,We have booked poly for two weeks form sept 6th to the 20th, but we are now looking to book an extra week and leave on the 30th of Aug and return on the 20th sept. We have phoned virgin 3 times to ammend the boo king and have been given 3 different prices for the extra week. the first time we phoned it added approx £1050 to the total cost. the second time we called it added approx £2170 to the cost . So the third time we called the extra week added approx £1700!!!. we are now totally confused and dont know were we stand or what to dne thing that doesnt help is that the virgin staff that we have talked to, dont really speak that great english! so we dont know if they have understood us properly .
please help.

I just did a quick booking enquiry for 30 Aug to 20 Sept, and the accommodation part of the trip was coming out at something like £2400 (although now I've tried it again and the Poly isn't an option )
On that basis, it seems odd that an extra week's accommodation should cost anywhere near the extra £2000 plus that you've been quoted. However, the flight prices might also be very different for the earlier dates so, without knowing your party details, it's difficult to tell.

Try making a booking online (without following it through, obviously!) with both the two-week dates and then the three-week dates. You should be able to tell from that what you think the extra should be.

It's going to be flying out in August (still school holidays) that pushes the price up I would think. If you stayed a week after your original two weeks I bet it would not add so much on.

I am sorry to hear about your troubles with Virgin. I am afraid to say, I too was fed a load of rubbish when I called up and asked to move my holiday forward by one week. I was told by one it would cost £600 extra, and another who told me £330.

They were complete rubbish, both giving me two totally different quotes.

I would email them instead. AFAIK its UK based and you will get an accurate figure.

I am totally against call centres based outside the UK. Short term company greed in using cheap labour, long term problems for our economy as all the money is going out. Besides, the very poor information I have been given by the idiots at Virgin.

Which number did you ring and at what time? - it can depend on when you call them who you get through to, ie the call centre or more knowledgable reps. in the UK.
Generally I find if we call during the morning or early afternoon then there is no problem, I can however understand what you mean as in the past we have often been given different prices.

We always look on the Internet first on Virgin Holidays website so we know what sort of price it will be. Then we ring up 3 or 4 times and take down the name of the person who we have spoken to. Then who ever gave us the cheapest quote is the one we do the booking with. I agree this should not have to be done but we would not book with another company because we are frequent Virgins, so the 10% discount really helps. Also we have had good experiences with virgin and have traveled with them about 7 times now.

we are frequent virgins too, and this is our 12th hoilday in 5 years with virgin.called again today and got the right! price if £2012.00 for the extra week. i know its the poly but £2012 is not much short of a break at disney over christmas for a week

If it's any help, fly 21/8 as that is the first day of the lower prices (that's what we did & although it means we only get 12 nights (7 of which are on DCL), it was about £800 less)

More rooms empty better price, as they fill up, so does the price. it sounds to me that the hotel is almost full?

to fly to New York is £2,068.00 and to actually take the same plane with the same stop in New York, but take an onward flight to NE, is £2,000.00

I was on the first flight Lufthansa flew from Frankfurt to Portland (Oregon) . The price my employers paid for the ticket LHR-FRA-PDX was about one third of the price of the trip starting in Frankfurt and this was about a week before I traveled (when all of the cheap fare buckets are usually sold out).

I presume it was a marketting thing to try and suck passengers onto the route from LHR and other hub airports. I was surprised by the level of the discount since they were only competing against other indirect flights.

yes, there was a time when it was worth booking Club World from Lisbon Portugal to the USA instead of Lon to the uSA even though the flight that started in Lisbon joined the flight from London, it was half the price!

many a time get a cheap flight from Lon to Lisbon have a night in a hotel and then on the way back deplane in london not using the final leg.

At the moment, the good tickets are Virgin via Amsterdam, i.e. AMS to LGW to MCO and back again
