I would love to fly PE for the space but when we asked how much extra it would cost for 2 adults & 3 children, it came to about the same as our spending money! Then my wife really nailed it when she said "you don't get there any quicker so what's the point?"

However, if you can afford to do it and can justify the cost - then do it. The extra room you have in PE would, I believe, mean you arrive a little bit more sane than if you'd travelled in cattle class.

I totally agree with Andru on this, I have flown PE just one way, it is much more comfortable than the standard Economy. But I honestly dont think that it is worth the extra money, especially with the size of the party you have, that is some money to spend just for a few extra inches of leg room.

It all depends on how large your party is in terms of size.
I cannot fly economy due to the pitch of seats, being 6 feet 1inch tall, economy has my knees around my ears, not a way to fly for eight hours.
PE has great leg room, the same meals and ameinity kit. However, you get priority check in, priority boarding, plus champagne before take off, and now Ben & jerry's ice cream during the flight.
At Orlando, there is a priority carrousel for PE and UC luggage.

I believe with Obi Wan Kenobi, my husband is 6' 4", I am 6' as is our 13 yr old son!!!, and our 9 year old is the size of an average 12 yr old - so for us the extra leg room and width was so much better, yes it was expensive but if I could only afford it one way I think that maybe the return night flight would be my choice, it's bad enough returning home, let alone returning home ratty because you've had an uncomfortable night on the plane. I do think that its expensive compared to maybe TCD but from what I understand they do not allow children in their upstairs area! so they are ruled out for us, this coming August we are booked PE again, I think I will need the comfort as I have to take eldest son to Sheffield 3 days before we go to Florida and drive from there straight to Gatwick for twilight checkin so will need some comfort to recover!! what ever you decide you will I am sure enjoy yourselves.

Although only 5'3" I cannot sit in cramped conditions as I get dreadful Sciatica when I do. So for us the extra £1,060 return is a small price to pay. You pay your money and take your choice.

If it's not too late to change your booking, go for Sunshine First with TCD. We would not hesitate in paying the extra next time we go to Florida and the price is comparable to Virgin PE. For us, the holiday begins with the plane journey and therefore we think the money paid is all part of the holiday experience.

If you have to have the extra leg room (and you don't mind a little longer in flying time....not sure how the schedules match up for connecting).
You could take Air TRansat Club Class via Toronto.(6-1/2 hrs to Toronto then 2-3/4 hrs to Orlando)
I calculated that it would be approximately a 250 pound per person saving.

I thought TCD had an age limit on their Sunshine First cabin?

Hi,

First choice have new planes from next year. It is a charter flight but very inexpensive to fly premium class in comparisan with Virgin. You are allowed 30kg weight, 36in leather seats, 9in T.V., upgraded meals, drinks at the bar, champagne, unlimited snacks, dedicated crew, and a dividing curtain!!!!!It has cost me for 3 people an extra £420 return, guaranteed seats together. Flew Virgin this year economy class and the only advantage was the luggage weight and downtown disney check in, not really worth the extra money, food and service not outstanding!! Worth giving something new a try.

Obi Wan,

There is no age limit in Sunshine First but you do have to have a fly/drive or inclusive holiday package booked with them. The age limit applies to the Sunshine Upper Deck.

Sunshine First has seat pitches of 50"!

thanks for all your replies - I think we have decided as much as we would love to fly PE, I would rather have the extra spending money and we have also decided to spend the extra on a villa closer to Disney (Famosa Gardens)....

Maybe one day - if we win the lottery!!!

Thanks
Nat

roll on 2nd May 2005!!!
