Virgin Premium economy

This has been something my wife and I have discussed at length over the years. I am lucky that when I fly for business I have flown in various business classes and before kids we have tried most PE scheduled and chartered. I don't sleep well on planes and come to the realisation that is true whether in economy/PE/Business/First.

So although we could upgrade we have rationalised it as follows, approximately a 2 week holiday from leaving for the airport and returning is around 15 days, which is around 360 hours. Let's say time in the plane around 18 hours of this time which is about 5% of the overall holiday time. Which let's face it isn't really that much time?

Also I have found now that I have a long commute in the car I don't feel so claustrophobic any more and as long as I am flying with our seats already allocated, somewhere unlikely to be bumped and checked in the day before online I'm good now.

Besides which looking at flight prices for next Easter holidays the cost of the upgrade is likely to be near the cost of the flights for all of us next year, so a no-brainer for us.

Given unlimited means, mortgage free etc. it would be First every time of course I am human and a cat1 Disney Cruise :rolleyes1

seats 80 h ank upstairs. they dont recline quite as far as the rest, but the space at the back feels like your in your own exclusive area. highly recommended

We'll be flying economy this year just because it's cheaper and allows us to spend more within the trip itself. If you can afford it, PE is much nicer, especially on the night flight back. I can't really sleep on planes anyway but at least you get a little more space in PE for the night flight so you don't wake up all stiff!

Yes, as long as you can handle the fact that every flight from now on will also be PE, then you are good to go. Been there, done that, and never going back to Economy! :rotfl: ;)

This happened to us! we fly PE both ways every time we go to Florida from Manchester. Main reason that we went PE was for the extra room because of my back problem, now dh wont go back to economy!
If you can upgrade only one way its better imo to upgrade on the way back=extra luggage allowance!!

we prefer PE but only do this if i can get a decent miles plus money price, last oct we paid just over £3000 for 4 adults using miles plus money for pe seats and it was so relaxing and quiet up on the upper deck, for us with two asd teens it's well worth the extra

i have paid more for first choice flights in their prem cabin:eek:

This question comes up a lot and I think the answer is actually fairly easy.

If you can afford it without worrying (or really noticing) the extra cost then it is worth it absolutly. It makes the flight so much better.

If its a big part of your budget, a stressfull decision and means you will be missing the extra whilst you are there then its NOT worth it. - Its only a means to get you on holiday.

As several have said - I would'nt really go for it once if its a stretch because generally you wont want to go back to economy :)
