virgin payments

Anyone booked a flight recently with Virgin frequent flyer miles - especially with a partner airline? If so, can you remember when they took the payment for the taxes - on booking, or ticketing? We booked for an Xmas departure on Air NZ (we live here now) to get us to LA and it's been over six weeks and they still haven't charged the taxes to my credit card - I called the first month it didn't appear to check the booking and they say it's all confirmed, but I'm still nervous as I know all the FF seats have gone on the return flight now?
