we have always travelled to orlando with virgin but went on the tcd website and could not believe it when we were pricing up a possible future trip only to find that tcd beat virgins price by anything between £700-800.This was staying at the Sheraton safari lbv on 28th August 2005. Anybody used TCD? What are they like?
Also has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Safari ?

Yes, we stayed at the Sheraton Safari a few years back (booked through Travel City).

Things we liked:

Location...very good spot. Only 1m from Downtown Disney, walking distance of the Crossroads (shops, dining, Mini-golf), Sizzlers next door for breakfast. Seconds from the I-4, so easy to get to I-Drive, Universal etc.

The lobby was very impressive, they have two parrots that greet you and its very well done.

Rooms were a nice size, clean and comfortable. Older rooms have recently been refitted.

Things we didnt like:

The staff were very unfriendly. We got allocated a room overlooking the loading bay and it was noisy. Went down to request another which they did do (to a lovely pool view one), but begrudgingly and without a smile.

There was also a fire alarm that went off one night around midnight. A false alarm, BUT, you arent meant to use the lifts and the door to the stairwell was locked. Plus the doors between our floor and the other main lifts had locked automatically due to the alarms. A caretaker did unlock the stairwell, but not for about 10 mins. We also missed the end of a pay per view movie we had ordered, and once again the desk staff were unfriendly about removing it from the bill (they did so though).

DH hated the pool, as it was freezing when it was advertised as heated in November. Conversely, the Spa was almost too hot to get in (though I loved it!).

To sum up then, its a hotel in a great spot and good value. I think maybe we were unlucky with the staff, but they really were very cool and probably the least friendly Americans we have encountered on any trip. Hopefully, that will have improved by now.

Travel City send a lot of people here, and its SEEMS like you are automatically allocated a rubbish room. Ask to see your room before you accept it. This is common practise in the States. Dont be fobbed off with something that you arent happy with.

Any more questions, please ask.

Hiya

I have booked with travel city direct this year, we go on november 26th, and the only couple of problems we have had is that they dont send regular statements to say how much is owing on the booking, and that their customer service line is very lacking in information. apart from that they are cool

We have booked direct with virgin for november 2005, the same problem with the statements but their customer service is spot on, in future I will book direct with them

We have flown with TCD before, we were given a quote for a fly drive with accommodation, and a quote for just the fly drive option, it worked out even cheaper to book our own accommodation (we found a brill site on internet where you gave your flight travel dates and accommodation requirements, then the site e-mailed all its registered villa owners with our details, and we had at least 25 replies all offering us their villa at really competitive prices, it took me a few days to go through them all but was worth it as have got a good deal on a villa we liked the look of with heated pool overlooking lake, dvd, cd, playstation for son and games room with football table, pool table and air hockey in garage). We got a good price for flights with tcd and upgraded to sunshine upper deck for extra £99 each - well worth it! They are the cheapest for flights that I could find.

We used TCD this year - Animal Kingdom Lodge and Bahama Bay resort.

Both sites we were upgraded at no extra charge.

We were delayed coming home during Hurricane Frances and TCD kept us informed at all times. They also were very reasuring when we found out that we had to spend an extra 4 days in AKL.
Their office staff in Lake Buena Vista were very friendly and knew everything !
We are just about to book again for next year and will definately be using TCD.
We too are saving well over 1700.00 based on 6 adults and 2 kids.
