Hi all, I was just wondering if any of you knew how many - if any - seats Virgin release when you go to do online check in i.e 24hrs before departure. I'm sure i've read people mentioning that more seats are available then, and I would prefer to change ours closer to the front if possible.

On the seat map for our flight, there is only 4 other seats available in economy right now and they are spaced out all over the plane. Does that sound like it's gonna be a busy flight, or that they just haven't released many seats yet?

We fly a week today from Manchester.

hi paul,
yes, around 60% of seatsare normally held back until 24 hours before departure.
At this time, all vacant seats excluding emergency exit seats and extra legroom seats are available.
Looking at you flight, yes its full!
Only total of 7 seats available between rows 29 and 64.
PE is full.
24 hours before, rows 21-28 become available.

Excellent info, thanks Obi :thumbsup2

We sat in the rows in the small compartment when you enter the plane last time we went and it's definitely a better experience than in the main economy cabin imo.

Are they quick in getting the extra seats online, or does it usually take an hour or 2 after the 24hr mark has passed? I'm off work on the Monday, so will be sitting at the ready on the PC :surfweb:

How do you know what Seats Virgin have left - am curious!!!

I am on VS27 on 29th April - is there anything spare in PE and I currently have my mum sitting downstairs on her own!!!!!

Go to 'Manage Your Flights' on the VA website (in the panel on the left on their homepage). You then just enter your name and booking reference, and it takes you to a page with several options i.e request certain meal types, submit Advance Passenger Information, change seats, etc :thumbsup2

I know how to look at the seat maps - I wanted to know how ObiWan knows what seats are still left once online check in opens?:goodvibes

21-23 are used for disabled passengers and their families. none or few on board, the seats get released.
24 & 25 are rows by teh side near galley stairs etc and again are held for specials.

I have pre-selected our seats already but they are near the back of the plane. Appreciate that this is only a request and not guaranteed.
For OLCI what would be the bests seats for a family of 5 (2 adults/3 children) in Economy :)

There are websites available, which generally require a paid subscription, where you can get this information.

Or maybe Obi Wan works in VS Reservations? :)

Certain airlines allow access to their seat map databases in real time and Virgin are one of those. Most American airlines do, some European but no charters.
