virgin online check in

Has anyone used this service and if so can you explain to me how it works-ive read the web jargon from virgins site but would rather have it explained by someone who's "been there,done that".

its pretty simple even for a computer-free zone like me, you just gointomangae your flights, track your flight details through reference number and then you go to check in online, add your individual pasport numbers, change seat or meal requests if you want and print off the appropriate check in boarding reference, then when you get to gatwick (this is in theory - if you want to know why check out my 'carolfoys mickey waffle day 1' trip report on uk trip report board ) then you line up there, hand your cases and your reference number in and off you go to boarding.
supposed to be simple - doesn't take into account computer failure and virgin staff not knowing what to do!

I've used this a couple of times and found it excellent. Having filled in the requisite details on the internet, we've sailed up to the dedicated check in desk at Manchester ( I think there's usually a sign saying 'pre-checked in passengers' or something.) We've never seen anyone else at the check in and have usually been processed in a couple of minutes. Unless you want to change your seating allocation or have special requests I would definitely recommend this.
