Virgin On-line check in (Return Journey)

Has anyone done the Virgin on-line check in for the return journey from Orlando?
We tried this 2 years ago but had problems and eventually had to go to Downtown Disney to check in...which we we're trying to avoid!
Also do you have to print the boarding passes? We were thinking of doing it from our hotel room but obviously won't have a printer.

We did it on Saturday morning for our return flight Saturday eve.
It took no more than 5 mins online.
We then went to Downtown Disney late morning as we were passing going to Epcot. Thought we could get rid of the luggage, the line was about 45 mins-1hr long. So kept bags and went to checkin at airport late afternoon, again line at regular checkin looked around 45 mins-1hr.
Went straight to bag drop they asked us if we had checked in online took 5 mins, printed our boarding cards and all done. Dont really see the big benefit of printing your own A4 waste of ink boarding sheets (I did it going out) It only takes about an extra minute for them to print them.
Will be doing it again in August, definitetly easier than Downtown Disney if there is any kind of line there.

Anyone without a laptop with them can call to just about any hotel around Orlando and use their business centre usually around the lobby area.
Our Laptop was having problems connecting at Best Western Lakeside last time we stayed there so used their computer, you buy a code from the machine next to the computers that buys you time, I think it was about $3 for 30 mins.
Or if you have a laptop just pop into lobby of any Marriott, Best western or numerous others for free wireless connection.
Another option is to ask your reception if they will check you in, I have heard some do it if they are not busy.

Sorry to gate crash this thread but, Wayneg are we going to see a trip report and did you have a good time? Any information from someone that has just been is better than none

Hi wayne. Do you think though that printing your own boarding cards would be a safer bet to guarantee the seat you have reserved?

I've heard they have changed people's seats when they have checked in from those that were originally reserved.

I suppose if you are at home and easy to print them then yes I would do it.

I have never had a problem when I have done online checkin, I have been given the seats I prebooked and allocated at checkin on my computer.
My only problem was at Xmas I had prebooked my seats from the day the became available and I was still allocated them before I left for the airport on Boxing day, but there was a problem with online checkin so got to airport 2 hours before flight, they had given our seats away. They did tell me if I had checked in online they would not have given them away.

Sorry no trip report will just keep posting on threads with my experience and advice (even if they don't want it )
I play VMK and they keep adding things like new rides, where you get a pin randomly. I have spent last 2 nights, over 8 hours trying to win the pin with no luck, so not really enough time to do a trip report. Now back to VMK to get stressed.

My memory is getting worse but I dont think the boarding passes were a continuation of the checkin process I think you have to go back to the manage your flights page(link below) and then click the print baording pass button.

I remember when I did the UK-USA check-in I had 3 options: Check-in online, Print Boarding Card and Update booking. I clicked on Print Boarding Card which then took me through the check-in process.

On the USA-UK check-in I only had Online Check-in and Update booking. I must admit I didn't go back to "Manage your flights" afterwards so it might have given the option there.

Really though I think you are right - it doesn't really save that much time at check-in by printing it yourself anyway.

I did read print your own is not available from every airport yet, I wonder if Orlando is one of them. I didn't even look as I didn't have a printer.
Anyone done it on return leg?

I'm at WDW now with DH and laptop and so will be doing Virgin online check-in myself, but when I was here previously with a friend and no laptop, I asked at the front desk (OKW) and they did it for me.

Just handed over my password and booking reference etc and they did it with a smile

In the end we just did the online check-in for our return journey and didn't bother about printing the boarding cards - as previously stated, no problem at all. When you have completed the check-in process, the online confirmation makes it clear that printing your own boarding cards is not necessary.

We went to the bag drop line as instructed, but there were fewer people in the PE line (and we were travelling PE) so we joined that instead, again no problem.

The regular line (ie economy and not online check-in) was very long, so I'd definitely recommend this option if you can do it.

If you don't have internet access, for whatever reason, you can always drop into an Apple store (in most of the malls), on your way to the airport and use their free internet access??
