Virgin new checked in baggage allowance from 23/9/09

I got an email if you book your travel before 23rd September you still get the old travel allowance there and back.

I have emailed VH to find out what allowance I will have.

Here is the email (its a good idea to get and print it in case of problems at downtown disney)

Thank you for your email.

Passengers booked with us before 23rd September 2009 for travel on or after 23rd
September 2009 will be entitled to the existing baggage allowance i.e. Upper
Class passengers travelling with us to the US, Caribbean, Kenya and Nigerian
routes will be permitted a maximum of 3 pieces of baggage at 32kgs each piece.
When added together, the three dimensions of any piece of luggage must not
exceed 158cm (62in).

Well, IO will give them something, at least they have not tried to BS the reasons for the allowance change in the email to me:-

"With regards to our Premium Economy new baggage allowances.

Virgin Atlantic has always offered an extremely generous free baggage allowance.

Firstly, we need to be consistent with other airlines when passengers purchase 'through tickets' requiring them to change airline in order to reach their final destination. It's confusing and frustrating for passengers travelling on different carriers offering different baggage allowances, and often results in unexpected expense and inconvenience should they find themselves carrying excess baggage after their journey has commenced.

In addition to this we must reduce how much weight we can carry in view of the ever increasing cost of fuel. We've taken the decision that it would be fairer to ask only those passengers carrying the higher levels of baggage to absorb the cost of the extra fuel required to carry it.

The new baggage allowance begins on the 23rd September 2009, as you made your reservation before this date you are able to use the existing baggage allowance for this trip.

Whilst your present feelings are appreciated, it is always disappointing for us to learn that a customer is unhappy, we are sorry that you are no longer inclined to support our airline, we recognise that you have the ultimate power to take your business elsewhere. Nevertheless, we sincerely hope that you will not do this, and in time you will have a change of heart and will choose our airline once again. "

I haven't got a reply yet to my email:sad2:

I'm worried that I want get the old allowance as I have booked more than 11 months out with VH so VA won't have my info till after the 23rd September.:headache:

I emailed VH, maybe I would be better off emailing VA.:confused3

I got a reply from VH stating

"checked with Virgin Atlantic and they will be honouring the existing baggage allowance for any bookings made before and travelling after 23rd September 2009.

Premium Economy - Two pieces of luggage per passenger, each weighing up to 32kg (70lbs). When added together, the three dimensions of any piece of luggage must not exceed 158cm (62in)."

It doesn't directly refer to my booking, how will Virging Atlantic know that I have booked before that date when my return flight is 30th August so 11 months out will after 23rd september?:confused3 I assume that I will be okay because VH will be issuing the tickets?
