I picked this up at KMart Saturday sale for $49.99 reg $69.00. The plan for the $25 includes 300 minutes, and unlimted data and Web, service is through Sprint. We are in the NE, and reviews say the service is good for us.

But I am wondering about the phone for one thing, rather a touch screen, it is for a occasional user....son does security work and thought this would be an option to the $$$$ of adding him to my Verizon plan with a data plan.

he does not even use $100 minutes a month on the Tracfone. I would like him to have an option to access the web, I think....

Othewise the tracfone is fine, maybe he would rather an I touch and upload a movie or music.
The other thing, he likes his video games like WOW, would a Net book, or Apple pad likd device in the home be more useful for him....

Gosh I am just trying to narrow his gift down. he has a desktop, the traveling device he could take to friends on the weekends?

Sorry to have so many questions, I am not sure of all the pros and cons to his desires. He is a no frill 28 yr old, lives at home yet, not a social texting or phone calling person.

Any input...should I can keep the phone if it is a deal, not much more then the track phone use....and get him an Itouch too? or workable netbook.
As long as he can use with Wii fi.

Thanks for thoughts. :surfweb:

Virgin has lots of options, you just have to hunt around on their web site. If DS is mostly using voice and text, you can pay $20 towards calls at $.20/minute (yes, expensive) but you don't have to recharge for 90 days. Then add the "texter's delight" plan for $5/month. The $25/month plan shuts off service unless you're set to automatically pay the next month's charges by CC or top-up cards.

My DD in college has the $25 plan and she loves it!. You get 300 minutes a month of calls which are used mostly to home because most of the kids text so it has been plenty. She loves being able to access the web form her phone and said that being able to use Google map has helped a lot when navigating around the city. Texting in unlimited.

She does have a better phone which cost $150 but that was her early Christmas present.

I like the no contract so if her needs change she isn't locked into 2 years, and it was the cheapest plan I could find with all those features.

Thankyou for the information, on the plan. That is what I should do, but upgrade the phone.
I noticed that the one I really think he would want to access the web, is $150and over $200. That has the touch screen.

I think I will return the sale $49.99 and save for the better model phone.
This was so helpful. Disers rock!

She has the LG rumor touch and I just looked and it is on sale for $129. right now.
