Virgin miles....

OK guys,

Could someone please explain to me (in very simple terms ) how virgin miles work.

We have booked to fly UC in Jan 2008 (4 adults, 2 LO's) and so each adult is earning around 16,000 points each. I don't think my Mum and Dad will be flying Virgin again after this trip, so can they transfer the points to us??
Do you lose the points if you don't use them within a certain time scale??

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Yes, your earned miles do expire unless you add more miles to your account - this can be from flights, or earning miles from a Virgin partner

No, you cannot transfer miles from one person to another (the only exception to this being if you are a gold member and utilise the family account which allows you to pool your children's miles into your own account).

Miles do not expire unless your account is inactive for three years. Spending or redeeming your miles keeps your account up-to-date.

What we have done in the past when we have taken my DH's younger brother is then used his miles to book miles plus money for us. We have done this twice.
