Hi I need some help with Virgins Miles plus scheme. Is there a maximum a limited og miles you can use? Is there a minimum?

I have 10000+ Tesco clubcard points todate and plan to save until next year cant book flights til then so double this figure. I cant decide wether to change the points into virgin miles Plus money to book cheap flights or exchange them into Virgin Holiday vouchers.

My other dilema is if there is a limit, will I change too many ???:worried::worried:

Personally I don't think that is the best way, you don't generally save much with M+M except certain tickets like Premium Economy. We've found it's best to use Tesco for dry cleaning, meals out, days out, RAC etc, things you spend anyway and put the money you would have spent in a jar. This gets you closer to 4x face value which in your case is 400. Thats more than you'd save using M+M and you can fly any airline too!

To get miles anyway we have a virgin credit card which all of our spending goes on and paid off each month.

We do the miles plus money. At the moment you get 50% more miles for your voucher (I think about 930 miles for each £2.50 voucher), so it may be worth changing a few.

For economy miles plus money you spend 2,000 miles. It basically seems to reduce costs to a set amount, so the amount you save will depend on the day of the week you fly (it is usually more expensive at weekends) and how close to the departure date you are (as the prices usually go up the closer you are).

We have had varying success, but we have always saved at least £25 per ticket and have saved over £100 per ticket once. So for putting in £12.50 worth of vouchers you will probably save about £50 in costs (for 2 people).

We did M&M.

Think the limit was 2000 miles per ticket; 500 for an infant. I worked out I saved £250 by transferring £25 worth of tesco vouchers into miles.

Definitely work out how many miles you need and convert the nearest number!

The number of miles needed is set by class:
  • Economy - 2000
  • Premium Economy - 7500
  • Upper Class - 15000

The savings vary and there are not always seats avaiable especially in school holidays.
