Do the miles Plus Money prices change much / at all? On the Virgin FF site it says something along the lines of "this price replaces any other Miles Plus Money prices you may have seen" and the quote is headed something like "current Miles Plus Money price".

We've been checking prices for DH's fishing trip next May usung his FF miles for him and his fishing buddies. Flights to Miami are coming out at about £395 pp (plus 2,000 miles pp). The current Virgin special offer fares (which don't apply as they go only as far ahead as 31 March) are from £379 pp (not using any miles).

We're trying to weigh up whether to hang fire and hope there may be some offers out for May eventually (and save the FF miles for future use), or to go ahead and book Miles Plus Money now. If he goes for the MPM option, is it possible the cost might change - if so, could it just as easily increase as go down? - or is the price pretty much constant?

In short - Yes it does.

Depends upon demand and all that.

We have used it many times and have paid anything between £250 and £350 depending on time of year etc.

Definately worth doing - however check out Virgin's website as they have a sale on a t present.

Every time we've tried milesplusmoney the price has ALWAYS been more expensive than booking the flight normally. Maybe it's the time we want to go but we have 50,000+ miles each and no way of using it unless we by full-price tickets and then use the miles to upgrade. I think it's a con to be honest.

Miles plus money is one of the best deals ever - as long as the time of year is right (Not tried school hols though so can't comment on those times).

We have not paid full price for several years as the deals have been so good.

As an alternative - if you ring up (rather than go on the web site) ask them about 'Companion' flights. This is where for about 10,000 miles (I think - may be more) you can effectively buy on get on free - with you just having to pay the tax on the 'free' flight.

We have got a couple of trips (2 adults travelling) for about £650. Soemtimes this does work out more expensive but is always worth a go.

Cheers

When I've checked MPM prices for other trips, it's never seemed 'worthwhile' as the price has either been higher, as you say, or marginally cheaper, but not worth using the miles.

However, for the dates in May that we've priced up, the regular flight-only price is £670, the fly-drive is £489 (not taking into account any FV discount), so the MPM price of £395 looks pretty good at the moment. :)
