Virgin Limo - Question

We have booked our trip with Virgin for end of August and we really do not want to drive so have opted for 'free' transfers' instead.

Our experience of coach transfers is that you invariably end up dropping the world and his wife offat their hotels before you finally arrive extremely tired and irritable at your hotel, having had to referee various fights and disagreements en route between DS's x 2 and DD (Virgin may class two of them as adults but believe you me they wouldn't if they had to sit in an enclosed space with them for longer than 10 minutes).

Anyone done the stretch limo thing to and from the airport?. Is it worth the extra £160?

Also how much would you tip the driver?

Thanks in advance for your help - I have learned so much from reading the posts on this board. Its wonderful!!!!!!!!

£160!!!! that seems an awful lot.

I know lots of people on these boards recommend Tiffany Towncards - depending on where you are staying, they charge a max of $90 roundtrip (are you flying into MCO? I think Virgin usually does, it is a lot more from Sanford, but then again, Sanford is much further away)

look here for prices

there's a $5 coupon here Coupon

What is a towncar? Is it the same as a stretch limo? As it will be a surprise I'm counting on the 'wow' factor to keep my offspring dumbstruck for as long as possible

We were tempted by the limo service but have ended up hiring a car. I think it would make a fantastic start to your holiday and, if you can keep it a secret, a great surprise for your sons and daughter.

.. you can check out the cars available on the website - they have photos :)

The Towncars are not stretch limos but are an extremely comfortable smart car - you can also check out www.fltours.com who also have a coupon on their website.

marlouwrig,
We have used the Stretch Limo service each time we have been with Virgin and I think it's more than worth it.
You can sit and watch the TV (not that you would as you're only in it for 15 minutes each way) you will probably get a phone call from the driver to ask if everything is OK and in general you feel really special and it gets your holiday off to a great start.
We are not going with Virgin Holiday this year (although still flying with Virgin) but in the next few days I will be checking out prices for limo transfers.
The price has gone up as we were charged £135 in 2001
Try these they are much cheaper:

As for tipping the driver we generally give him $5 or maybe $10 coming home depending on whether you have plenty of cash left or not.
