Just read on v- flyer that the first A330 VA are getting are going to be on the MCO routes.

MAN is getting a daily service starting April 2011, LGW is getting one 3 days a week from May 2011 and GLA one day from May as well.

Hopefully the 747s will be getting their refurbs now :goodvibes

Cool - that's good as I think the MCO routes are due a replacement. :) Sadly we'll miss the new planes as we fly home in April, but at least I know are bubble seats are safe, lol!

Will the 747s be getting the refurbs soon? Or did you mean once the a330's are in place?

It's more likely that the 747s will be retired soon.

Personally I prefer the a330 to the 747 as it feels more spacious inside, though the 777 is even roomier.

oooo interesting...i still need to learn about the planes....so glad to be flying with virgin though

No the leases were only recently extended on the remaining 747s and they announced that they would be getting the new PE seats starting in 2011 :thumbsup2

I like the upper deck on the 747 it's so quiet.:goodvibes

virgin told my friend last week that they were going to fly from Manchester on the airbus starting Feb. I think its only on the 10.20 flight. No upper class apparently.

the airbus is all on one level un like the 747, it still has 4 engines and the entertainment is alot better as I would imagine they will be the LHR fleet which had the best entertainment on

I prefer the A330 as they do feel roomier than the 747 and alot newer

my friend said it would be on demand entertainment according to the person they spoke to at virgin

The A330 only has 2 engines, its the A340 that has four.

A330 is a lot smaller than 747, i'll miss the PE upstairs on the 747 as it's great. Hoping it's true that they are going to start flying from Glasgow one day a week and not only at school holidays, direct flights to MCO would be great.

The A330 is all one level and the first ones on service are rumoured only to have Econ & PE seats. They will be brand new planes with better IfE and it is also rumoured that they will have wireless connectivity on board :thumbsup2

Awesome! Hopefully will be flying on one of these next year, will have to put up with the tired all Virgin planes for the December trip though - but as long as it gets me there I dont care!:lmao:

Virgin definitely told my friend no upper class on the MAN-MCO flights

Ooohhh nnnnoooo - we have "bubble" seats reserved for next Sept - if no bubble we'll have to revert to standard seats - cant justify the extra cost for downstairs PE :confused3:confused3:confused3

Be good if Virgin fly direct from Birmingham too - its annoying to have to travel to manchester or london. I'm hoping once the runway is extended virgin will come to brum too :goodvibes

One a day from Glasgow will be a big boost for us north of the border :thumbsup2

I think that most of virgins 747-400s are x Air New Zealand planes so already a bit leggy with the air miles.

Agree the Airbus aircraft are a step up in quality. Traveled recently on a virgin A340 to Washington.

If anyone wants to try the new double deck airbus A380 for cheap, Air France have recently taken delivery of 3 of them and during July are flying one of them Heathrow to Charles De Gaule for £80 return:thumbsup2 its just to train crew up before the aircraft is put on its long haul route.

Would like to know the exact date and times the new Airbus A330s will take over on the Gatwick - Orlando route?

So I can book another holiday :dance3:
