Virgin hols and not using car hire

Hi guys, I've booked through virgin holes and have basic car hire included. I've since decided I don't want to use the car and will use DME instead. I just intended to get on the airplane and not pick up the car at the other end. Hubby want to officially cancel car hire before we go. I don't want to do anything to alter booking at this stage as everything's good to go. Should we officially cancel or just not pick up the car at the other end ? Opinions/experiences welcomed.

If you cancel the car, you forfeit the flydrive. That might be full and proper cancellation of your car AND of your flight (as they're both linked under a package, cancel one, cancel all), or a reprice to a higher amount

Many here book flydrives and don't collect their cars, or even book another car on the side.

Don't do anything, just go to DME desk and don't think about the car.

If it is a package (Flight, hotel & car)then you can remove the car (possibly with a fee). If it is a Flydrive, as chmurf says they can charge you for turning it into a flight only deal.
Either way I wouldn't tell them, done it many times and never had a problem.
