Hi,
Just received confirmation of our flydrive for November. I was surprised to read that:
"As of 2nd Feb 2005 platinum and fully inc. car insurance is no longer available to book through Virgin holidays." This is not a problem for me as I use Amex but I was surprised to see it.

That's interesting - does that mean it's no longer available to book after 2nd Feb or no longer available to use?

We booked ours November last year and are travelling in November this year... anyone know?

:confused3

Yes, I booked this months ago for September so I wonder will it still apply? No doubt we'll hear in time.

I also booked fully inc last september I wander what we will have to do :confused3

Booked a car last week with the flying club and was offered insurance "equivalent to the platinum insurance offered by virgin holidays", so I wonder if they have maybe changed the name ??

they have also stopped offering the free upgrade to frequent virgins. we have just had trouble getting it added to our booking for this summer. when we booked in january we were told that we were to get the upgrade as frequent virgins. but when we got our confirmation it didn't show the upgrade. we have since had 3 ammended invoices still not showing the upgrade. spoke to someone today at the frequent virging club to be told about this change of policy. the nice lady said she would include the upgrade for this holiday as we were promised it when booking in january, but as of now no more free car upgrades are available.
cant really see the point of being a frequent virgin anymore. are there any other worthwile advantages for being a member?
regards,
bruce

We booked our holiday in January too but we have had no problem with the upgrade. We only became frequent virgins once we'd booked it but the lady at the FV club sorted it straight away! Maybe it has something to do with when you travel? We're going in March.

The 10% discount is still a big attraction of being a FV

Hi.

Very puzzled by this as I just added car hire to our fly drive on Sunday.
Always booked through Airline Network before, but with the FVC discount Virgin were tons cheaper this time. Had no problem getting the upgrade and nothing was mentioned about this perk being on the way out. Haven't had the confirmation yet but not anticipating any problems.

The advance registration dept. at Virgin called me on Saturday with costs for our 2006 holiday (they normally don't call 'til about April so it's very early this year - I'm not sure if that means the brochures will be out early too).

Anyway, they quoted for the platinum car insurance package and also as FV's said that we would get a car upgrade. If this isn't the case when I phone later today or tomorrow to book I'll let you know.

One thing they didn't mention was the 10% discount so I'll have to check that out too.

I went online to look at Virgin prices for April 2006 and the ins was still there to add in to the package.
