Hi everyone and here is my first post. I have booked a Virgin Holiday after years of DIY villa holidays (I also started to panic when March 2005 flights were disappearing before my eyes). I am staying at the Hard Rock and I want to know has anyone ever upgraded to a Club or Deluxe room either at the HRH or any other Universal or Disney after paying the packaged price? What base rate do they take when calculating your upgrade price difference?

Would it also help if DH took his AA card which I understand is as good as the AAA card?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi, cant help with the upgrade question but the AA card gets you 10% off at universal and seaworld, park entrance food and souvenirs. You will love HRH, we stayed there in Feb and you cant beat fotl.

Thanks Scotty for the advice about the AA card. Do the same discounts apply anywhere in Disney. Glad you enjoyed the HRH. Were you in a Garden View room? Haven't really decided whether to upgrade or not. I know that we have paid high rates going direct thru Virgin but if the HRH want another huge wedge to upgrade I think I'll leave it.

Don't know about HRH, but when we looked at booking ourselves @ WDW there was no real difference in the rack rate compared to package rate. Other posts have said its cheaper to upgrade when there rather than book that accomodation in the first place. The only problem of course is you run the risk of not being able to upgrade!

I was in a Garden View room last October and it was lovely, I really liked our view. The room was plenty big enough, and we had my two sisters with us!
