Well,
It seems that Virgin Upper Class passengers and Gold Card holders who fly out of Gatwick (I won't go into the even poorer way they are treated at Manchester and Glasgow!!!) should be ready for even more "enhancements" to the service they get as the premium passengers.

Runours have it that when the Gatwick Clubhouse reopens after its facelift in December, one of the more popular aspects of the place will not return, namly the beauty salon/hair salon.
I wonder if the cinema which has been out of action for three years will also go?

So,
Virgin have alreday removed the revivals room from gatwick,
reduced the luggage allowance down to 3 X 23KG
now will remove the hair salon
to add to:
poor IFE on Gatwick planes
Poor food
Reduced options
reduced wine/spirits list

Its making BA Club World look better all the time

I know that Economy and PE have also suffered cutbacks, but as both BA and Virgin have said, its the premium cabin which makes the money and these reductions in service make Virgin no better than the competition.

Just be aware for your once in a lifetime UC/CW trip or your next buisness cabin trip.

Thats a shame - although i never flew UC (though i can dream :)) i did enjoy the beauty salon in the lounge this year!

That is a shame. I quite enjoy my massage before I get on the plane. Next they will be charging for food.

Gatwick Clubhouse Refurbishment:

We are pleased to confirm that Gatwick Clubhouse will be refurbished during the Autumn. Unfortunately this will mean that it is closed from 1st September to 30th November 2009 whilst the work takes place. The fully refurbished Clubhouse will re-open in time for Christmas 2009, and will include a new Cowshed spa.

We do apologise for the temporary closure but look forward to welcoming passengers back to a wonderfully improved Clubhouse in December.

So looks like there will be treatments and a hair salon.

Claire ;)

well, good news about treatments, but not sure if that includes a hair salon?

It could well include it as at Heathrow the hair salon is called 'Bumble and Bumble at the Cowshed'.

"Cowshed"

What a lovely name for a beauty parlour!

How the Cowshed got it's name -

Our historyWhen Cowshed launched in 1998, it was one of the first brands to specialise in the use of plants and their oils, proteins, essential fatty acids and vitamins. It was initially developed for use in the original Cowshed spa (named after the building's former occupants) and guest rooms at Babington House, Somerset, and is now available in all of the Soho House Group's venues as well as having its own retail shops in Soho and Chiswick.
