Looking on the Virgin website for next Sept, if you select a moderate hotel or above it offers you the Counter service dining plan free.

Do we think this is the start of free dining? or an error on the website?

can you post a link
Wont be an error as virgin would be relesing it soon, posibly in next few days
If it is as you said,if booking with disney this would meen you would be able to upgrade to regular ddp for the differance in price $10 or to the DxDDP

It's showing when you select your board basis, though I've noticed it's not for all hotels. Contemporary for example does not show free dining (though if I remeber correctly this was excluded from free dining last year)

Looking a bit more I've noticed if you select a moderate resort (I used Coranado springs to look) it offers the counter service free. If you pick a deluxe resort (I used Animal Kingdom Lodge) counter service is chargable, but standard DDP is free.

I looked using 19/09/09 departure date as an example.

sorry just added dining plan not quick service but the normal one and its comming up as free has anybody booked yet this is for august

I would be happier if the main page had some info about free dining but for the yacht and beach leaving on the 9th of august for three weeks (been saving for years) its comming up with no cost for the disney dining plan (the one with 1 table service and one counter) realy want to book but fear its a mess up with virgins site been waiting for a long time for this :yay:

Dear Lord!!!!! I just priced up some stuff and it was :scared1: :scared1: (All of this was on 2 adults and 14 nights).

First, only Mods and Dlx again. With the mod you get free DDP light (CS DDP) and with Dlx you get dxDDP. Sounds not to bad, except when you try to upgrade.

I selected a mod and got free DDP light it is £25 pppn to get DDP and £48pppn extra to get dxDDP.

I selected a Dlx and got free DDP. To upgrade to dxDDP it is £48 pppn.

Am I missing something?? To get 'free' dxDDP it will cost $91 ($1.90/£1) on top of full price (no double dipping) hotel (applies to mod $ Dlx) and the dxDDP doesn't even cost that much (only ~$72). And lets not even go there on no value.

Am I the only one that sees something wrong with this picture???:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Well I was seriously considering making a booking for next August, was getting a great price with Free DDP. The GF and outbound prem econ seats for less than I am paying this year for Yacht Club with econ seats both ways. But while playing around with different options it now wants to charge me £25 ppppn for DDP :sad1:

I should have booked it when I had the chance.

If anybody has managed to book you'll have to let us know if Virgin catch up with you and make you pay for the DDP

Just being playing and I think VH website is having a blip!

It has offered me free QS Dining on Coronado but same dates for Wilderness Lodge and I got nothing free!

Think I will wait for an announcement! Besides we want the normal DDP not QSDP and to stay at CSR.

I will have to phone to book anyway as we will be travelling with an infant but I want to buy her a seat on the plane as I don not a 15mth old on my lap for a 8 hour night flight home!

I can still get it with the Yacht Club but no other deluxes.

I've got a feeling from reading the US boards that they are only going to offer the quick service DP for free dining when staying at Values and Mod's

I was surprised that they had they normal one for deluxe's

I hope this all gets sorted out, I loved the idea of DDP but really dont want just counter service. Hopefully upgrading wont be an arm and a leg!

From what I can gather:If you book a Mod during Free Dining you will get FRee DDP light-2xCS.... & would need to pay an upgrade to get DDP or DxDDP,if you book certain Deluxe you will get DDP & would need to upgrade if you want DxDDP.Free DDP has never been offered at Values for the UK deal but has been available on the US deal.
I know for us the DDP light is a no-go,we just couldn't eat 2xCS everyday for 3 weeks- if yu look at the majority of CS menus there just isn't much variation, although I realise there are some exceptions, just not enough of them!
SD:thumbsup2

We talked about it at lunch time and decided that free DDP-lite is better than nothing. We're looking to go next August. It would mean that breakfast would be paid for as would a second meal in a park (or Earl of Sandwich) and then we'd be free to eat off property if we wanted to have a sit down meal. This isn't as much "value" as the free DDP as it was or is this year. However free is still free.

The only downside to it is that I'd be cheated out of the planning frenzy and the pleasure of making the ADRs.

We plan to go next August free DDP or not so it's just a bonus to us.

the usa prices are
QSDDP $29.99 = £16
Regular DDP $39.99 = £21
DxDDP think $79.99 = £36

If want to book with the usa rather than virgin the upgrades will be around £5 and £16
Just shows how much virgin ar ripping you of

Can you book free UK DDP through disney USA?

in a word no
To book with the usa if and when it comes out, might be a better option
if bounceback occurs this aug/sep if you staying there.you should be able to book a value up,if as in past years usa have always included values and up in the free ddp
Or wait till next april which usaly is the time for the general free ddp offer for the usa folks
If you go down the usa route upgradeing QS ddp works out cheaper

According to info I read on another forum, free DDP will be available from 20/08/08.

Apparantly it's going to be csDDP at moderate's and AKL, and DDP at selected Deluxe resorts, as well as OKW and SS.
