Virgin free car high (paying for extras)

Alamo.co.uk/Brits is giving a price of £221.40 for the smallest car.

You said you had a child in a toddler seat earlier and if your are a family of 3 I really would consider a bigger car as you won't get your luggage in.

Personally I would look at least at an intermediate if not full size.

We as a family of 3 always get an SUV or minivan. When we where a couple we got a full size or premium if we wanted to splash out. I like the bigger car as there roads are bigger and so are most of the cars around you.

If we go on our own we have always gone for the smallest car option as I see it as a waste of money (apart from when we've used the insurance4car policy cause then we had numerous cars and got cheap deals) the last 2 years we've had the smallest cars ive ever seen on US roads, we couldn't even fit a suitcase in the boot!lol think we might of just been unlucky.. the rentals were with alamo and we will probably not go with the smallest option again. We took tons of pictures and posted them on facebook etc for everyone to have a laugh how small it was.

Not had problems with the budget cars on our last few trips (minus toddler). One bag in boot and two on back seat should be fine? Baby zen buggy is tiny. Now decided to take are own car seat.

Will prob look into upgrading the car now though after what you ve all said if it's not much extra

Seems like booking through Alamo like you say is the best option. Can get a SUV for same price basically as a mini car with virgin and fully inclusive insurance. Do you know if there are any local charges?

The car was like a fiat 500 (about the size of a KA) we had never seen cars this small out there, but in May when we had one again we noticed quite a few of them (looks like gone are the days when you could purchase a 2 door compact and get a 4 door decent size car) I wouldn't book one of those again now, like I said it was a struggle and we're all for saving money on stuff like that.

If you book through alamo UK everything will be included, the full insurance package will also get tank of fuel and additional driver. If it's the USA site not everything is included.

I never take the "free " car with any travel company.
I always book online with Alamo or National in the USA directly.

I got a SUV last year - all unlimited, full insurance etc for $550 - for two weeks.
With the exchange rate, this worked out cheaper than the insurance on the "free" car.
