I joined virgin flying club before our recent trip.
Do I only get my miles? I thought as the lead passenger I would get the miles for the whole trip which I could then offset for all of us for future family trips.
Is this possible? Or does every passenger have to be a member? Can children become members then?
What do I do now to get my family members flying miles. I would like to book a trip to New York in the winter to see the new Little mermaid show on Broadway and I think it could really make a difference if I had all our miles.
Yes, I know I can probably get all this info on the virgin site but I like you guys more - you make sense and tell it like it is! :thumbsup2
TIA.

The best thing to do is to use the Miles More Friends option and send an invitation to the members of your family who are eligible (over 12 years old) to join Flying Club. Basically, you send them an Email via the Flying Club site and 'introduce' them. When they take their first qualifying flight, they get the miles plus you both get bonus miles. DH just joined in the last months or so but got the miles for our February trip plus the bonus miles.

If you join for kids who are over 12 (but under 16) you have to print off a form, sign it and then send it VA Flying Club before they can get their miles.

HTH

Each member of the party has to register on their own, children under 16 they send a form you have to sign and send back. So you each get your own miles. So I don't think there's any way to pool miles, sorry :sad2:

I am glad I refreshed before I started typing was going to put just about the same answer Joh.:thumbsup2

I introduced my dh and my dd and they said i wasn't allowed the bonus miles as it was family :sad2:

That seems unfair Jeanette :confused3

I am sure I read someone here was able to pool their whole family's miles due to their flying club status. I want to say it was Frances999 but I'm not sure.

I belive there are 3 (?) different levels - Red (Pleb status, the one I have ;) ) then two further which may be Silver and Gold. I seem to recall Frances' husband was Gold status as he flew often for work and could put all of the family's flights onto one account.

I may have got this horribly wrong  but I seem to remember this was what was said.

That scenario sounds oddly familiar Karen - I think you may be right. However, I think in PoppyAnna's case, it's safe to say that you can't pool your miles. You can'however, use your miles ot book for other people. We used some miles in February towards M+M flights for us and another couple.

Jeanette, I agree with Karen - that doesn't sound fair. How could tjey know he was your husband? apart from the same address but I didn't even think they would bother to make that connection :confused3

We definitely had no problems with getting the miles for DH.

ETA: Just checked the Ts&Cs Jeanette - there is absolutely nothing to say the people you introduce cannot be family. I would dispute the bonus miles with them. Here is a link to the Ts&Cs

That is unfair, I had no problem introducing DW, DS, DMIL, Uncle, and friends, all have been accepted and paid into my account. What difference does it make who you introduce if they are going to fly with VA. Big companies make me mad at times.

You go for it Jeanette! You beat me to it Joh :teeth:

(Who's stalking who this time then? :lmao: )

I've just sent the email to DH, switched to his user on the PC and joined on his behalf :thumbsup2 I got an extra 2000 and he got a bonus 1000
DH and I have the same address but we don't have the same surname.

If hubby and wife each hold a card with 10000 miles each (plebby red tier) and they want to book flights for the whole family (2 children) how do we book to use the most miles using miles plus money? I've tried and it defaults to 2000 miles each. Do DH and I have to make a booking each with one child to use up the most miles?
Thanks (again!)

I will get on to the flying club tomorrow and sort it out, i joined them last year, i thought it was unfair as well. I'll let you know what happens

well i'm in shock:eek:
yes i can have bonus miles for friends and family
but when she checked Ian's account she asked me whether he was deceased as they have closed his account down as it says deceased on it.
she is going to email the FC support team about all this- their not in until monday though...

Poppyanna sorry to hijack your thread

Give VA a call to book the flights. You should be able to book the flights and tell them how you want the miles to be taken from your accounts.

I did this for our New York trip - 2000 miles each plus £can't remember lol. I asked if the miles could just be taken from one account - not sure why I asked :confused3 - was told that was ok. As DH & I both have around 50,000 miles and DD had 9,000.....I used 8,000 of her miles :)

Hope that helps.

Miles plus Money is a fixed number of miles - 2000 for economy flights, so you can't use more miles to get a bigger discount :(

M+M is one of the cases where you can use your miles to book flights for other people.
