We hope to use our tesco cc points to put towards our virgin flights from manchester to orlando for our trip in May next year.:cool1:

I would like to know from you clever dissers if there is a particular time of year (this year) that I should be looking for the flights and what sort of price I should be aiming for.....:confused3

Hope someone can help

Just so you know, if you want to use your Tesco points for your flights you have to book a package with Virgin Holidays that includes accommodation. You cannot just pay for the flights with Virgin Atlantic. We paid the entire Virgin bill with Clubcard Deals but as we didn't want the accommodation we just selected the cheapest available accommodation and won't use it.

Also, it depends how many clubcard deals you have as to whether it will be worth it for you. You can't have the online discount if you use any Tesco vouchers and so if you only have a few you may not save much - on the other hand if you have a lot then it is a great way to make Florida less costly.

We have booked a 7 night Disney cruise while we are in Florida, we wouldn't have been able to afford that as well if we had had to pay for our flights in cash.

Good luck with your points collecting, it is not as lucrative as it once was but hopefully it will help you on your way to WDW.

Hi,
Just agreeing with the previous poster, you have to book a full holiday with Virgin to use your clubcard points/vouchers.
At the end of June I booked for October 2010 with VH and used £920 worth of vouchers. I got a good price because it was so far in advance and I was also entitled to get the free disney dining which I thought was a really good deal. It was all very hassle free and I wouldn't have had enough in my budget if I hadn't have used the Tesco cc vouchers so we're really happy.
I think it is great if you can get a good price for the holiday like we did, the earlier the better in my book as prices go up the nearer the holiday gets :goodvibes

Did you use £920 in vouchers or £920 in deals? I am seriously considering collecting points like mad, but I only get about £40 a quarter in points, so £160 in deals...it won't get me very far will it?:rotfl:

Another disser pointed out that you can get BA airmiles with cc points or a Cosmos flydrive - something the op might consider.

Any ideas when would be the best time to book with virgin atlantic? Do they normally have a January sale? We have book 17 nights at the end of August 2010. Thanks:yay:

Ooooooh dear!!!!!

We've already booked our disney accomodation!!!!

You say there you must book a package- I take it that means 14 nights accomodation to go with flights for a 14 night hol??

What an expensive mistake!!!!:headache::mad:

Dont worry too much about that, like one of the previous posts, sometimes, it is worth while booking a package with the cheapest available hotel and then not using it! Id check this out aswell as flight only.....oh and I think Virgin class fly drive as a package?? :confused3

Sorry if im wrong on that one!

Not really, as the PP said you would be booking flight and the cheapest accomodation with VH, but NOT using the accomodation :)

Forgot to add, if it is not worth your while to use your tesco points then maybe VA's flight only prices may be worth a look?

We have just booked for the three of us for next April / May for just under £400 each - plus cashback through quidco :) The total price had been nearly £400 higher for a while, but I had roughly £400 as my ball park figure so I was happy with the prices :goodvibes

But even the cheapest package may not be as cheap as flight only, bearing in mind you cannot get any special discounts when using vouchers. Best bet is to see what prices are like from both and weigh up which is most economical.

What dates are you looking at as May is already bookable as flight only with VA, and if around half term you need to be quick.

Claire ;)

Just priced up two weeks beginning of May (7th - 21st) VA is £1031 for 2 adults and an infant, VH cheapest hotel is £2087, for end May 21st - June 4th VA is £1253 and VH is £2040. So it really depends on your dates but either way VA ia at least £800 cheaper.

Claire ;)

Wow, quite a saving Claire!

Just priced up end of April - beginning of May for 2 weeks, 29th April - 13th May is £899 for 2 adults 1 infant, arriving back at Manchester early on Friday morning (14th with time difference) and have a weekend to recover and unpack!! :)

Sorry, I forgot to add that was with VA, flight only.

If you really want to use your Tesco vouchers, look at Cosmos flydrive or BA airmiles for your flights. I have picked up this info on these boards, so can't tell you of any experience booking either of these. It's something we will be looking into to use our Tesco points.

Thanks everyone

Think I'll just go for flight only and save the cc points for another time!!

Just need to keep an eye on flight prices now

It was £920 in deals, wish it was in vouchers.....:rotfl:

This took me 3 years of saving vouchers and I got a clubcard credit card which helped to add some points. My husband and I also get our petrol there which helps a bit.

Have a look at the website www.paidtoshop.com (or co.uk sorry I can't remember) for some excellent hints and codes to help boost your points.

I'm now going to save my vouchers for another few years and hopefully have another trip in another few years

That's just like me, I buy everything on my Tesco credit card and it takes me a couple of years to save £900 in points. I am a member of paidtoshop and some of the people on there have that each quarter!:rotfl: I have this fear that I will collect points over the next few years and then they will pull all of the holidays just before I'm ready to book.:scared1:

I had that EXACT same fear, that's why I booked for Oct 2010 the week VH released prices...
I'm going to save for the next few years so we can have a week in Disneyland California, hopefully pay it all with vouchers!
Hopefully they wont pull the holidays, I keep thinking that it all seems a bit too good to be true especially with the amount of people that basically take the pee....
Fingers crossed they dont before you book...:cool1:
