As the title says...flight from Gla 7th Oct appears to be full. What are the chances of being bumped? I must be mad, but having heard of people getting free flights etc for the inconvenience it seems worth it. (we have been many times so a late arrival/indirect/losing a day is no big deal)

Thanks folks

Depends if it's full or overbooked, I guess! You're going at the busiest time of year for UK families, so I'd say it's unlikely.

We were asked a few years back to go on a later flight and either get paid or have an extra flight within 18 months. we took the money as we did not go back the following year. it didnt inconvenience use as we werent doing anything that day and we arrived a few hours later:thumbsup2

Yep economy looks totally full, with 3 free seats in PE, the Earlier you check in online the better if you don't want to risk being bumped if they have indeed overbooked

welcome to DISboards.

Flown many times to Florida with Virgin (and just about every other airline) Just about every flight I have been on has been fully booked as we only travel in school hols. Never had any transatlantic flight overbooked or anyone bumped. On internal US flights yes it happens often but rarely on the transatlantic flights.

I know some people were bumped off a Manchester Virgin flight a couple of years ago and compensated over oct half term

I can also remember a thread where people were called and they tried to change them in advance to the miami flight.

I can't see any harm asking on check in if they are fully booked - if they are looking for volunteers they would tell you.

Not a common occurrance though.

We always book the early flight from Manchester, and would not mind being bumped to the later flight, as it is only a few hours. Of course, it would not be accepted for free, and I usually hang out for FREE upgrade to PE both ways as my compo

Thanks for replies so far. If you have done OLCI 24 hrs before then are you never approached for bumping? Or can you still be asked At bag drop? Wondering if we should hold off with OLCI or not . We have reserved seats, but I know that means very little!

We've been bumped 3 times voluntarily. Got compensation, overnight in Radisson and business class flights the next day. Hasn't been the opportunity in the past 3 to 4 years as our flights haven't been as busy.

They weren't Virgin flights though.
