Virgin flight delays

I've been watching the inbound arrival and outbound departure times recently as we set off next weekend. They're not good. Today for example VS016, due in at 08:45 is still in the air as I type this with an an ETA of 11:14. The knock on is VS015 is scheduled to depart at 15:00 instead of 12:30.

This is not an isolated occurance of late. Is it just Virgin, or is this a feature of USA flights for other carriers brought about by the security issues?

The VS27 today has a 45 minute delay, comapred to over 3 hours yesterday. Not sure why the delay but often a different aircraft takes on the outbound route, compared to which aircraft came in. If you look at the V-Flyer website it is quite interesting to see the movement of the aircraft.

I have been watching our BMI flight outbound all week and it hasn't set off on time once. It happens!

One thing is that they dont seem to be making up any time back at the moment so not favourable winds for Westbound flights.

Personally I do not think these delays are related to security reasons, flight delays unfortunatley are a common occurrence.

As many of us have experienced over the years a thunderstorm for example can mean a flight is an hour or so late in taking off.
Naturally often if a flight is late then the return flight time can often be affected too.

We were an hour late in August both flying from the UK and the US, both times it was because passengers had gone missing and in waiting for them missed our slot(s).

Any delay will probably not be known until tomorrow morning, as most of these delays are unavoidable for one reason or another, such as those posted above by Johnny.

They should have been made to stand up all the way.

Thanks for the link - Our flight number VS075 was 10 mins late leaving airport but arrived 1 minute early!

While we were waiting for our return flight to Gatwick last December (in bound flight delayed due to bad weather at Gatwick), the Virgin Manchester flight was delayed due to the cabin crew being stranded at their hotel in Orlando

Words of advice, if your flight is dealyed and you have insurance that covers a delay, as soon as your delay goes over the time of the ability to claim get a letter or note form the Airline to confirm the delay there and then.

I was delayed in August and made as claim but even though the insurance is Virgin, they wanted me to get VH or VA to write a letter to confirm the delay, I have the letter now, some four weeks after claiming still no payout, and two months after the actual delay!
