We are flying with Virgin on Nov 29th. There are three of us me being the oldest 45 and John the youngest 7. Does anyone know what the Virgin flights are like now. We have never flown with them before and have been told they have TV's in the headrest and access to games. Is this right and if so is there a site where I can see what films are showing for this flight?:thumbsup2 pirate:

Yes there are TV's in the headrest but VA no longer release the details of the films for the LGW/MAN routes. Also unlikely to have games on the LGW/MAN routes unless it is a LHR plane being substituted in due to maintainence or a plane going tech just prior to your flight.

Hi

I flew with Virgin this year and they had lots to watch, only down side was it automatically started and you couldn't stop and start it . This seemed no problem for the rest of my family (all 6 of them), however I seemed to constantly miss the start of the films - not sure why :confused3 must have been 'grey' moments :rotfl2:

On our flight to Orlando 2 weeks ago we had a tv but no games and on our way back last night we had both. On the last 3 flights with Virgin tho there have been problems with the entertainment, on the flight last night the tv kept resetting itself for the first hour which meant I missed the film and then the films stopped working for the whole of the plane, they just kept showing the same tv progs again and again. I would take something to entertain the kids in case you have this problem.

If you go on the Virgin Atlantic website you can have a look at which movies will be shown in the near future......it doesn't neccessarily mean they will all be on your flight, but it gives you an idea of what might be on! They also do the same with the tv programmes, which has its own kids section. :thumbsup2

It was our first time with Virgin this year and we were impressed with them.

Our planes had the older Nova system on them which had quite a few movie channels on them, then kiddie channels and tv channels, there were music channels too. You could not start and stop the channels like you can on the newer planes with Virgin from London but after being used to an overhead tv with no choice of programmes for quite a while this was an advancement for us.

We did take on the plane some water and also a sandwich for the eldest son but really we didn't need anything, they looked after us really well, bringing drinks and snacks, 2 meals and ice cream. It fact we felt quite full. So next year not bothering to take anything on with us.

Coming back it was quieter with it being night, still had the range of films but lights dimmed so you really felt like resting. I know they did come round with drinks but I was trying to rest.

Really good flight times back and for the first time not suffered from major jet lag. Flight was delayed till 10.30 pm instead of 6.30 pm so was our bedtime which helped us rest more.

I would suggest checking in at Downtown Disney on the morning of your departure. We were informed of our delay but were then free to enjoy another full day at Universal. We didn't need to get to the airport till 8.30 pm.

Checking in at Downtown Disney was such an easy straightforward thing to do, we were well impressed. It made the whole last day really stress free.:)

We still had July's choice of films going out but the most recent films being showed according to the magazine for August were Shrek 3 and Spiderman 3 on the outboard flight in August.

Looking forward to seeing what we get in October.:thumbsup2

If it's not to our taste we have our Archos' as back-up loaded with the latest blockbusters (and the odd Disney film as well).:yay:

Did you ever get noise cancelling headphones Richard? I was tempted with the Bose ones in the Apple Store but without hearing them on the plane didn't chance buying them. Still humming and haaing about them.

I have a pair of Bose QC2's
I use them in the house as well as on all flights as their dynamic range is almost as good as my Sennhieser headphones.
The QC3's are smaller, but personally I feel as they are not a complete ear cover, then they do not filter out so much aircraft noise.
The QC2's are fantastic for eliminating the noise when travelling, you can wear them without the lead and just use them to filter the noise as well.

Many thanks for the advice.:thumbsup2 I will use the Downtown Disney check in as we are not flying until 19.30hrs.:thumbsup2
