Hi all ,I do apologise for what is probably a stupid question but it's years since I last flew anywhere , I've booked virgin flights online and there doesn't seem to be any "tickets" to download -is this correct ? I have a booking ref obviously and have been told I can check in online dump bags at the correct area then proceed to boarding ,is that correct ? I just don't feel right without a ticket lol (old school) and if all that is correct do you still need to get there 3 hours before ? Thank you d

You don't get tickets anymore.I agree it just doesn't feel right just turning up to the airport with a number, but thats all thats needed now.You can do your check in 24 hours before departure online and print off your boarding passes, then all you do at the airport is check your bags in and your good to go:thumbsup2

BTW No such thing as a stupid question here.

Just gone thru my emails to see when I last had tickets, Expedia 2002 stated I would get tickets within 6 days, but then by Jan 2004 they were e-tickets so around 9 or 10 years since I had a flight ticket.
I rarely book packages but I think they still sent tickets out for quite a few years after that.

They say 3 hours before but if I have done online checkin we arrive nearer to 2 hours before if possible.

We have E-tickets for when we fly in October with Virgin is this what your on about or are you saying you just have a ref number and nothing to print out :confused3.

I hate the fact they dont send you out anything anymore like luggage tags etc at least in the US the get Mickey mail "sooo jealous" lol I remember in 2010 when we flew with Thomson/Firstchoice we was sent out a really cool book with printed tickets and luggage tags etc guess we dont get anything like that with Virgin :rotfl2:

Thanks everyone , yeh tinker pea I don't seem to even have an e-ticket just a booking reference number - even tho I've checked with virgin and they say that's all you need I'm still not convinced lol but that seems to be the way of the modern world rofl

Totally agree :thumbsup2

I'd feel weird too, not sure my husband would cope. He always prints everthing out :rotfl:

DW always knows when I'm about to start printing out our holiday information - ink cartridges start turning up through the post and the 200gsm paper comes out for the IMPORTANT stuff, like ADRs, e-tickets, hotel ressies, budget sheets, shopping lists, postcard lists, luggage check list... and the printing checklist :rotfl2:

Have you booked with Virgin Holidays or Virgin Atlantic? With Virgin Holidays, you will get a reference number and a couple of weeks before you fly, you will get a pack which will include a flight 'voucher'. With Virgin Atlantic, you normally get an e-ticket sent to you via Email.

Virgin Atlantic - no e-ticket just a booking reference number - that's what's confusing me tbh - I've got a pal going this Saturday with booking reference only so il see how he gets on before panicking lol

i thought you only got your e-ticket once you've checked in online?

If youre really worried maybe ring Virgin and ask them, Just to put your mind at ease? :thumbsup2

Hope its all sorted for you soon.
