Hi Potnoddle (what a cool name)
Welcome to the DIS.
We have flown with Virgin every time we have gone long haul. We go economy and have never had any problems. All meals and drinks are included and when you take your seat you will find a small amenity kit containing socks, an eye patch thing so that you can sleep, notepad and pen and a small toothbrush and toothpaste. They come in very handy plastic pouch which I re use.
Children receive their own back pack bag which includes some sweets, crayons, colouring books and some other bits and bobs. The bags are very sturdy and come in very handy for all of your souveniers.
All seats have the TV in the back and headphones are handed out by the crew.
Some of the flights also have computer games on the TV's which are operated from the TV remote.
I have never flown UC or PE but Iknow others on here have so I am sure they will be along soon to give you some feedback.
Happy DISing
What a brilliant description This made me laugh I wondered what a 'non' socky sock was at the same time
I can't say that I would descrive the extras or the entertainment on Virgin flights any better than those of the other scheduled airlines. I would say though that I find the general demenour of the cabin staff to be near the top of the scale when comared with some of their competitors
We have found them the best company for Direct flights, only airline we have found better is BMI but they only go indirect.
If you go with them make sure you register for the Frequent Flyer club. it has saved us a fortune. See link for a few offers recently http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1158190
We have flown with them and with BA in economy and premium economy. Very little to choose between them - we have had good and bad flights with both. The flying club does make a difference as you soon get a discount on flights.
We have been flying with VA since 1990, we have a child with special needs and they have always been very kind and helpful. Don't forget as well that you can check-in your luggage at Disney Marketplace on return, then just turn up for your flight. Leaves the rest of the day luggage free.
