Anyone else get the following message from Virgin-Atlantic when checking their seats?

"We're sorry. The seat map is not available at this time. Your seats will be assigned at check in."

We're going on the 19th are decided to check our seat allocation.

I Did Our Seating Plan With No Problems But This Was 2 Weeks Ago..

We did ours months ago as well without any problems. However, now when I want to check the assignment I can see the return flight but cant see the outgoing flight.

I believe they take down the map when a flight is full, though I would have thought you would have still been able to see your planned seat reservation if that were the case.

We also did ours months ago. I've just checked and I see the outgoing as well as the return flight.

just logged in and checked our seats for next Easter, all is well.

Virgin usually do this when the flight is full. We are flying on the 14th and I have the same message. If you go to 'manage your flights', then click on passenger details instead of journey details and it will show your seat allocation.

Our flight is full coming back and we have no allocated seats. When I rang VS they told me 40% of seats are held back and can be allocated when on-line check-in opens exactly 24hours prior to departure.

(Sorry, having major problems with the computer so iuts taking me a time to reply to any post)

Richard,
two questions;
what are your flight details? (flt no. date)
What time have tyou for your departure?

Obi, flying on 19th october on vs027. Departs 10.45am.

Just had a look at the seat plan Richard.
Yes, the flight is REALLY full! 40% that are held back have been released. (I HATE full flights!!!)
Only 2 single seats available in Economy, 45F and 53J
Only 3 seats in PE, 80K upstairs and 82 H k downstairs
No seats empty in Upper Class

So yes, I would imagine they will be chopping and changing some people's seats on the day.
(Rows 21-28 are of course not showing and won't do so until 24 hours before the flight)

When you go to Manage my bookings on the VA web site and pull down the info on your individual names, does it not show a seat number?

Many thank Pauldents and Obi. Yes, our original seating request is still showing. I will, however, be sitting here at 10:44 and 50 seconds on the 18th ready to grab seats in rows 21-28.:surfweb:

Best of luck richard.
If I remember, i will look early on that day to see what your chances are looking like.

This is getting me really worried - we fly out on the 12th VS27 but I cant get in to book seats until 24 hours prior to dep. ( booked with VH).
I thought that they always held back seats till then but that appears not to be so according to an earlier post:eek:
Is there any chance that there will still be four seats together?

These are the seats you should be able reserve when OLCI opens 24 hours prior to departure. It looks like there are a few rows that would seat four together.

22ABCDEFGHJK
23DEFGHJK
26ABCHJK to row 28
39ABCDEFGHJK to row 41
50ABCDEFGHJK to row 52
64ABDEFGJK to row 65

Somebodys been feeding you duff information.
You cannot check in more than 24 hours before the flight, HOWEVER, you CAN pre request your seats online at virgin Atlantics web site with a locator number (Booking reference) which Virgin Holidays can supply to you.

As the flight is very full now, you might not be able to change your seats, but when you manage your booking, it should give you your seat assignment numbers under each name

thanks for the info, paul and obi.

I just got off the phone to VA and they have put a note on my booking for gatwick check in and guaranteed(!?) us seats together on check-in.
I guess I'll have to wait and see now if that holds true.

VH and VA both told me ages ago that I could only get seats at check-in. I have been sitting here with my locator number and a seat map for weeks thinking I was all set to get my pick of the seats- what a *****!:rotfl:

So - given the above info - do you think I should try to check in on-line at 24 hours or wait till I get to gatwick?

Personally I would not wait.
Online checkin opens at least two hours before Twilight checkin and if you leave it until you get to Gatwick, many seats may have been taken.

Another question: We have 3 seats "allocated" together at the moment, although not our first choice (row 45). When I get to do the on-line check-in on the 18th, what are the chances that as I "grab" a seat I want, someone else is also grabbing seats at the same time? For example, let's say I want 23 HJK: I type in 23H for me but someone beats me to 23J and K; so I then try 24H but someone beats me to 24JK etc etc.

I have to ask these questions as DW (Still thinking......) is already panicking.:lmao:

I have to say I have absolutley no idea! :goodvibes
I would imagine the chances of two people being online for the same flight at the exact same time would be great.
Also, you can cancel you changes if you don't get the seats at the same place and try again.

You should have the plan come up and you can click on all the seats you want together.

I am itching now to see how you get on.......
