I remember that I am allowed 32Kg because I booked before a certain date in November and paid my tickets but how do I deal with this at the airports? Will there be something on the screen to say I am allowed that amount per person?

My case is already 24KG:rotfl2:

Blimey, we've just packed 2 large holdalls for 4 of us and they are both 19.5kg. Years of camping have taught us to travel light.

I am also entitled to the higher amount of baggage allowance but think it is 2 bags x 23kg? I have a letter from VH confirming this - I didn't want to chance it at the airport.

Just re-read the info:

Two pieces of luggage per passenger, each weighing up to 23kg (50lbs). When added together, the three dimensions of any piece of luggage must not exceed 158cm (62in).

Whoops only have one peice and it currently is 24kg. Best put some in DHs case:rotfl2:

No just economy - have flown PE but do not think it is worth it

I think she asked because in terms of weight PE had a 32kg allowance under the old allowances, while economy remained at 23. Only the number of pieces changed for economy.

:lmao: Is there nothing that you can leave behind? All the more space for bringing things back ;)

For economy you were allowed 2 x 23kg now 1 x 23 kg
If you booked before 25th Nov you will be allowed 2 x 23kg.

Old allowance

New allowance
Number of bags: 1 bag.
Routes applicable:
All Virgin Atlantic routes, (except Kenya/Nigeria/Ghana, where allowance is 2 bags).
Weight per bag: Up to 23kg each.

It is because I got the numbers round the wrong way - I couldnt remember if it was 32 or 23 per bag LOL

That isnt everything yet - and we are buying a suitcase out there to bring things back under our allowed allowance:thumbsup2

Good. A fellow shopper with high standards :rotfl2: But if you leave things behind now you can bring TWO cases of stuff back instead of the one extra one. Or do you leave things there?

What are you taking?!

Last year, DBF and I filled two cases each- all four cases were at their 23kg limit (on the way back, I hasten to add!). This year, we'll have to manage with 23kg each! It's going to be a challenge. I might have to... buy less stuff. :sad1:

A different outfit for everyday and a couple of evening outfits. Only going for 10 days:confused3:rotfl2:

You sound like me last year. I knew what I was going to be wearing at any given minute! :scared1:

I learnt my lesson, put it that way. I'm going to be much more casual with it this year. I might even wear something TWICE! :lmao:

Last year I packed what I thought was LOADS - we went with VH so had the 2 x23 each and there was four of us. However, we only took 4 cases and the heaviest was 18kg!

In terms of the clothing - we wore the same 3 or 4 outfits and I just did washing at the hotel - it was so hot and humid most the clothes I took were not light enough - my favourite below the knees cropped jeans never got worn due to heat - yet my 2for£5 'short' shorts were worn most days!

We saw many other families struggling with so much luggage - We just prefer to travel light and experience has taught us - we do not need to pack everything but the kitchen sink (oddly enough we are campers too maybe camping changes your perspective!)

I do it everytime I go - but I have a different case this time so maybe it is a bit heavier. I have suitcase scales so will just mix and match in the other cases:thumbsup2

I am bent on getting my own luggage up the escalator for the Monorail to the ME desk at MCO (instead of the looooooong wait for it to arrive by carousel :rolleyes1). It will be one case inside another and a large duffel bag on wheels. I am hoping to squeeze them all inside each other with our clothes and things, but if not I will use the duffel bag for soft things. There is an iron in the room. I might just use a plastic tub with a lid to stop things getting too creased and I can use it to pack things in coming home or leave it behind if it is cumbersome. It wasn't the weight last year as much as the bulk. I just could not manage both cases and my hand luggage with DD hanging onto my arm.

Yes that will be better. Last time we had a wheelchair so had to put the luggage on the carousel - we were waiting forever for it come out :sad2:

That must have been a challenge! I was silly though because our cases were nowhere near full, but they were really large. I could easily have used one slightly smaller one and packed it in the big on with all our things and still been within the weight limit. My problem was that the TA booked our connecting flights and didn't link them to our main booking so we were stuck with domestic allowance between Manchester and Edinburgh both ways! :headache:
