Virgin and BA Compensation Payments

My holiday insurance company just sent me the following


"Hello xxxxx

Are you eligible for a £40 refund?

Passengers who flew long-haul with Virgin Atlantic or British Airways may be able to claim refunds of up to £40 for a couple after the two airlines agreed to pay compensation to the victims of price-fixing.

BA has been fined for price-fixing on fuel surcharges and Virgin admitted to breaching the law, narrowly escaping a fine. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic passengers will receive up to $200m (£102m) in compensation after both airlines have come to a legal settlement.

The deal involves 8 million airline tickets sold between August 11 2004 and March 23 2006. To register for your refunds, please visit www.airpassengerrefund.co.uk or if you have mislaid or lost details of your flight call 0800 0430 343."


Just checked and it looks like I'll qualify for 2 refunds, missing out on a 3rd by few weeks.

Sorry if this has been posted before, I havent been paying much attention to the boards recently. If not, hopefuly this will benefit a few of you.

Registered last night, am glad we're getting a bit back. We missed out on our 2006 trip though so will only get back £40. Still, better than nothing!

You have to be able to prove you paid the money to get a refund and you could just get something silly like £2 a person.
