I'm toying with the idea of booking a VIP tour for our December trip next year. I know someone has answered these questions, but for the life of me, I can't find the thread! Here goes...

  • How much are VIP tours?
  • Is there a minimum number of hours?
  • What types of 'perks' are available?
  • If the tour crosses a meal time, are we supposed to pay for lunch for the guide?
  • Can the tour be split (i.e. a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening)?
  • Does it work any differently if there someone in our group is in a wheelchair or scooter?
Thanks!

The tours are a 6 hour minimum and can not be split throughout the day. You do not HAVE to pay for your guides meals, but you should offer the option if they would like to join you and pick up the tab. Meal times are a good time to plan out then next steps in what you want to do.

They are your human fast pass. Instant fastpass access for your group up to 10 people PLUS immediate access to 11 or so other rides that do not have fast passes while they are with you.

They can make restaurant reservations for you plus can get you VIP viewing sections if available for parades, fireworks, Fantasmic, WOC, Mickey and the Magical Map, Alladin...plus a few others I think. They can book those for you later in the day even after you cut them loose, they do not need to be present with you...they just need to book them for you that day!

Best use if you are going to use just a 6 hour window is have a big breakfast...then quick light lunch during the tour so you are not burning the clock with them, use their time on the rides...then have them book VIP sections for you AFTER you plan on ending the scheduled tour. No sense paying them to sit with you to watch Alladin!

  • How much are VIP tours? Currently, the tours are $315 during off peak times, and $355 during peak (ie summer, Christmas, Spring break. I also recommend counting in a tip for the guide. I generally tip about $100 or $10 per hour. More to our regular guide who knows our touring style.
  • Is there a minimum number of hours? Yes, minimum of 6 hours.
  • What types of 'perks' are available? Most have been stated above. You can also valet for the day at the Grand.
  • If the tour crosses a meal time, are we supposed to pay for lunch for the guide? Guides will be required to take a break. We generally tour during meals, and we always include the guide. But if you only do 6 hours, schedule your meals before/after the tour.
  • Can the tour be split (i.e. a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening)? No.
  • Does it work any differently if there someone in our group is in a wheelchair or scooter? Not really.
Thanks!
We really enjoy our tours. The guides are great.

There should be no issues with wheelchairs/scooters, since Premium VIP Tours often use the alternate/handicap entrance.
The only issue with a wheelchair/scooter is while you may go through an alternate entrance, if there is a line for wheelchairs, you may have to wait in it for evac purposes. For example, we've had where we enter for TSMM and while the rest of my party got immediate access, I got moved over to the LONG handicap line. Our guides are great though, and mine knows I can walk to the cars, but can't do the stairs, and she knows the ropes enough to know how to have them load me in the regular line, and has my car move to the handicap exit. This can't be done on RSR.

This is all very helpful - Thanks!

I'm still not totally sure how many people will be going on this trip. Given the cost, it's really only going to be possible if we have 6-10 people using the service. It sounds fantastic though! If we don't use it in December, we'll certainly use the service at some point!

If I could get a group of 10 together it would likely be a good deal. @ 5 in my family however, and only me paying... yeah not so much. One of these days maybe...

We did the tour with 10 people and it was amazing, Jaime our guide did an outstanding job in the MK. We actually made it on 13 rides and the park was so crowded. Well worth the cost, can't say enough about Jaime, he was great, guiding us around the park, planning our next attraction and just being very, very personalbe!!!

We did a VIP tour on Christmas Day also. We had 16 people on tour. Our guides got us on all the DCA rides before lunch. After Storytellers, we hit Disneyland and did all the major rides twice, and most of the Fantasyland rides once. It was a great day!!

I thought the limit was 10 for the VIP tours. Did they make an exception for your group, or do they take 16 or more in a group as a rule?

I went on a VIP tour in the first DIS Diva get-together. It was a wonderful experience.
