VIP tour and dining reservations

Last year we did a tour at WDW, I got the tour only a few days before trip, coming off the waitlist, so already had dining reservations for our trip.

This was in my confirmation letter
"Please let us know at your earliest convenience if you'd like to book any dining reservations as they can be done 60 days in advance. Advanced reservations are highly recommended as requests are subject to availability. Listed below are links to our dining locations that accept reservations as well as more details regarding the Disneyland Resort® VIP Tour."

So for those of you that have done this before, is this service only available on the day we do the tour, or for our whole stay? Our tour starts after lunch. But the reservations I'm most interested in are Goofys dinner on our arrival day and Breakfast at the Plaza Inn the day after our tour. I don't know that I want to eat a big meal midday and then get on a bunch of rides. Would they make reservations in the Downtown Disney area?

Would this give me a better chance of getting reservations or should I just get up early and do it myself?

Always prepare for the worst and hope for the best. While they can certainly pull strings, there's zero guarantee. Book your own and if you can't, hope they can offer to assist.

They told me that the offer for dining reservations is only for the day of the tour. They seemed to be pretty strict on that. However, your mileage may vary.

We are coming into Anaheim the night before our VIP tour because we need to fit in our travel COVID Tests. They were able to help us with our Trader Sam’s reservation for that night, as well as the ones on the VIP day.
