We are going to Universal the week of 4th of July. Monday the 2nd is the first day we want to go to Universal and according to the VIP ticket pricing, that's a Standard day, but a few of the other days that week are Peak prices. We want to purchase a 3 day ticket, so if I buy at the Standard rate, can I still use the other tickets on Peak days?
Also, is it too early to buy the VIP tickets or do they typically sell out quick?

Yes. The price is set by the day you *first* use them, but you can then use them for subsequent days. It is not too early to buy them, because the price can (and probably will) go up, and they can sell out.

Before you buy them though, do the math about getting a resort room as a "throwaway". Depending on how many people there are in your party, that might be a less expensive way to get unlimited Express.

If you get a room, does that allow you access to skip lines on the day you check in and the day you check out?

Yes. You get two full days of unlimited express for one night's reservation.

since you are going during a busy time period, i would have no idea on the number of vip tickets they will sell.

do the vip ticket on the standard day as it will be cheaper.
use your 3 day passes on the other days.

the vip ticket is date related for price.

regular park tickets are not.
they can be used on any days.

I think the OP was thinking about buying a 3-day VIP ticket., not a 1-day VIP ticket and a regular 3-day pass.

you could be right.
i had to read his question a few times and it is possible to be read either way.

to put forth that much money on 3 days of vip is a lot.
especially since the price jumps on the other days.
