I read on another board about VIP seating for the marathon, any info on this? Price? When its available?

Thanks!

The last few times I heard of it, it comes in the Disney Endurance email newsletter and keep an eye on the web site. Usually starts around September to register for it. I think cost was around 25-30 dollars but can't remember for sure.
The VIP seating gets you a breaskfast that is simple, coffee or drinks (water, etc.) and a guaranteed seat in the finish line bleachers. I think you also get a pom-pom. You get a wrist strap to wear to show that you are the VIP and that comes in your packet pick-up material.

There is a VIP racers tent. Not sure how much that is. Has a separate baggage area, is either air conditioned or heated depending on weather and other stuff, don't know much else about it because I remember it being a bit pricey and then I like the atmosphere of being with everyone before the race.

One of the girls at the running store I go to said that she paid for the VIP tent this year's marathon (2008). She said it was nice because there were chairs and it was heated so she didn't have to bring anything to sit on or anything extra sweats to keep warm in. It was about $50/person which I found pricey. Since I'm going with DF, we'd end up spending $100 which I think would be better spent somewhere else.

I have this posted from the 2008 race on my website at http://www.disneyrunning.com/08marathon9_07enewsletter.html
and http://www.disneyrunning.com/08RunnersRetreatandGrandstandFanPackagesFinalInstructions.pdf .
The first is the Sept E Newsletter and the later the final instructions for both RR and Spectator VIP seating.

Hope this helps. I feel if you knew for sure it was raining, I might buy it but half the fun is sitting with all your friends outside and not by yourself inside. My guess is prices will go up again(just like the races).

Thanks for the info Robert, your website always has the scoop!

Did anyone do the VIP seating for their family last year? I'm sure the price will be higher than $25 a person this year but was it worth it to them? I as the walker/jogger don't need any special treatment but I've seen pictures as to how crowded it is at the finish and want to make sure my DH and DD will have somewhere to stand. Of course I will be near the end of the pack so maybe the crowds will thin by then.

My Mom has done the VIP seating for the half 2 times now. She thinks it is worth it because she doesn't have to worry about getting a seat to see me finish and gets a good photo op. She hasn't done it any other way. She is not there at 6am, only towards the end when I come through. I take a bit over 3 hours and she says the stands don't look too crowded, but then again she has only done the VIP seating. SHe meets me on Main Street and I call her on my cell as I am entering the Backstage area and then I call her as I am entering EPCOT that way she can gauge as to when I will appear in the parking lot for the finish. Might be nice for you DD to have a place to sit to watch you finish and get something to drink??

Good luck with the decision.
