I am looking at a trip next spring. we will be there around spring break time, but before Easter. party of 4, with 2 boys (12 and 9) We have never been to Universal before (been to Disney several times) and only have 1.5 days for this uni trip. staying at hard rock. Kids are big HP fans. We could afford to do a VIP tour but I am told by others that it may really not be worth it/necessary with early entry and express pass. Of course, spending the money on other things would be better, but we have low wait time tolerance and this trip is celebrating a milestone birthday. Is the VIP tour "worth it", or can we do enough without out that our money would be better spent elsewhere? any experience to help advise me here? I can't decide what to do with this one.

I feel the vip tours are great for those with a short stay

Private tours are geared to your needs rather than the non private ones

You would get background info about the parks and more in depth info than what you can get from reading a tour book

If money is not an issue, you might enjoy having your own tour guide to show you the park

If you choose to do the parks in your own, read all info you can to help guide you in making plans on doing the parks
Check the website for UO for park lay out and info on rides, shows, eateries, parades , etc

Either way you will have fun during your stay onsite
