As my day approaches faster than i thought it would...i was thinking about the ceremony music. I can not express enough now much i do not want a violin at my wedding. But it comes with the escape package. I dont personally see anything wrong with it but im not that kind of girl. A violin seems so sweet....i dont really see myself that way. (more like a bull in a china shop)
Will Disney let me maybe use my own music....like an ipod deal....????i dont know. I have had my mind set on a certain song for years and i dont know how it could be played on the violin....:confused3
So what is the deal with choosing your own music? Allowed or not allowed? Help please! :worship::worship:

That question should be asked to your coordinator. I guess it would also depend on where your having your ceremony and who would be the one to control the music.

I had the violinist at my wedding, and I must say he was awesome!!!! He had requests from some of my guests for songs from Star Wars and he played Bryan Adams "Everything I do, I do for you" as our wedding song.

You don't have to use the violinist. You can bring your own speakers but someone in your party would have to set up and run it. Or you can rent it from Disney and hire an AV tech to setup and run it.

I asked this same question with my wedding planner because I was thinking I didn't want the violin and organ playing at my wedding.

She said like the poster above said that you can either have somebody from your party play it or pay to have one of their people set it up/play.

She said that using a live person to play the songs was actually better because they can slow down/ speed up/ cut short/ prolong when needed. It would make it a more natural feeling instead of having either the song play too long or not play long enough.

I can honestly tell you that the music sounded amazing. You will have the violinist and the organist playing together and it is just unreal. It does not sound to dainty at all.

All of this of course depends on where you are holding your ceremony. The organist only plays along in the Wedding Pavilion.

My DH wanted to walk down the aisle to "He's a Pirate" and it sounded way better than I expected.

i was thinking....you know the ipod docks with the speakers, i was thinking of using one of those. Easy to transport. Easy to take care of. It wont be like im lugging sound equipment around. i didnt know if they would even allow that....but if they do, amazing. i would prefer that over the violinist. even though i am sure they are prefectly talented.

I am having it at Sea Breeze Point. So i guess the violin is not accompanied by the organ? Maybe that would make a bit of a difference but im not sure.

Just be sure your speakers are battery operated as there is no power source at SBP

When we originally were thinking of doing the Escape Package, I was set on not having a violinist (I'm also bull-in-a-china-shop type :thumbsup2)....but then I starting looking into songs they could play that change the vibe of the music...have you thought about having them play more up-tempo/fun songs? Disney tunes? I remember when I would google/YouTube violin songs that were fun and no the 'classic' violin songs you regularly hear at weddings, it actually would have been a great option. I went to a wedding were the brides family was in charge of the music on a player and they fumbled around with it was was a little....awkward... and didn't flow smoothly. Ultimately, you have to do what you are comfortable with!

I recommend trying to find songs on the violin that you like and try to get it to work for your wedding! :wizard::hippie:

I wouldn't rule out the violin. I observed an Escape Wedding at the Yacht Club Gazebo (I was on my balcony drinking coffee in the morning and a wedding happened in front of me - it was great!). I remember thinking how I am not a violin person but would make an exception - the music was fun and upbeat (when you think about it, a violin is also a fiddle). Mostly Disney tunes, but they may have been what they requested. I particularly remember "Beauty and the Beast". I agree with previous poster about being able to time the music to the events. What is the song you want played? Would you be ok if you saved the iPod tunes for the cake part (when timing isn't as critical)? Whatever you do, enjoy your day!

I have been stuck on using a Dave Matthews Band song :love: because i love them so much....the song is called When the World Ends.
Ah! i am so confused as to what to do. But maybe i will do the violin :confused: for the walk and the ipod for the cake and stuff.....arg. I dont know.
Thanks everyone!! Very valid suggestions. Thanks. I know have a lot of thinking to do. :scared1:

DMB has a violin - maybe the violinist could play Crush as you walk down the aisle? Not sure about When the World Ends - I like the sentiment but it's not as melodic to me for a wedding (thus not sure if would work on a violin) and it has a few risque lyrics for playing down the aisle on an ipod imho; maybe better for later.

i dont believe in censoring myself. i like risque:banana:and i like the melody. and that song is special to US..... its "our" song. but dave is "our" band so ill find something. :cheer2:

:flower3: Not my intent to offend - of course you should do what suits you and I am sure your day will be great! Let us know what you decide - I'd be interested to know if the violinist can play any DMB if you go that route or how the sound system worked.

I wasn't crazy about the violin idea at first either - we just did a memories wedding at luau cove. Your wedding planner can check any music selection you submit. One of our songs was the theme from UP and it worked out really great. The nice thing as was mentioned is that he was able to get the timing perfect.

I am still stuck......
I am waiting to hear from my wedding planner. Probably friday or monday. Exciting!
I am thinking i will ask what DMB songs can be played on the violin and take it from there! I mean seriously....what is it...like 2-3 whole minutes of me walking down to it....i shouldnt be stressing this much.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Actually...how long does it take to walk down the "aisle" @SBP? I didnt think about that.....

Dont be silly! No offense taken..:flower3:

"When the World Ends" will not work on violin.

However: re you just thinking "violin," or are you considering "fiddle"? Right now I'm listening to a live version of "Ants Marching," and that dude is going to town on the fiddle. It is the same instrument, after all... just because it says "violin" doesn't mean it has to be classically played! PLEASE keep your "violinist"! S/he will probably be so happy to play something different at a wedding. And you'll be my hero.

Im not sure a fiddle is the way i want to go either. But i would love to be someones hero!:rotfl:..maybe i will reconsider ;) I guess i will have to make a game time decision when i find out more of what the violinist can play.
