Hi I am in the process of deciding wether to choose the violinist or the string quartet for my ceremony, cocktail, and dinner music. If any you Disney Bride Alumni's or Future Disney brides have chosen either two or will be choosing, please if possible tell me all about it. I believe that I might be choosing the violinist being that I am on a strict budget, but I decided to ask all of you...thx hope you can help

we had a violinist & harpist for our ceremony & prereception/cocktails it created such atmosphere & beauty, they did a great job with the music we choose too, lots of soundtracks & unusual requests. we had a dj at the reception.

I'm leaning towards the string quartet. I enjoy the violin, but a quartet has a much fuller, richer sound. Why don't you find some music played by both just a voilin and a string quartet and listen to them to see which sound you prefer?

Thx for your helping.
Ember that was a great idea of just listening to the music. thx so much
Happy wedding planning princess:

It depends which type of mood you're trying to set. I consulted on a wedding this fall where the bride wanted a very intimate, calming feel (candle light dinner in a cozy atmosphere) for cocktails and dinner, so we opted for a single strolling violinist for music.

If however, you're trying to set a more festive mood for cocktails and dinner portion of your event then you might want to spring for a quartet. As I would say to any of my clients, if budget is a concern but you prefer the fullness of the sound with more musicians, there's always a middle ground that could work for you too. Perhaps a duo or trio would better fit your budget and give you the rich sound you're looking for.

Hope this helps!

I had a string quartet whom I booked on my own so it saved me some money. Everyone raved about them, they were fantastic. They travel with your wedding group as well from ceremony to pre-reception or wherever you want them to play. :surfweb:
